To be one of a set could be fun. It was fun most of the time, until no one noticed you weren't there.

Didn't hear that joke, nor experienced that breathtaking moment.

'No, I didn't hear about this before, you must be thinking about Kalpana.'

The amount of times Lakshmi had experienced that, or something way too close to it for comfort was astounding.

Then why, why were they surprised when it happened again.

It had been an evening like any other before. Just the two of them revising for the upcoming exams, ignoring text messages to come outside and party the night away.

It had been the same, comfortable in knowing what will happen next.

Lakshmi hadn't known what happened next.

The chime of the church bell indicating it was closer to tomorrow morning than midnight yesterday.

The lights had gone out everywhere.

They had screamed their brother's name. Who, though he had initially replied, faded away within a moment.

He was gone within the next blink of an eye.

The lights went back on.

Life went on, for months, weeks, days. No one knew where he was nor what happened.

And why would they care? The spare was still here after all.

Who needed two, when one was more than enough?

"I don't care what the price is. Take me there and tell me what happened!"

Time hadn't been in Lakshmi's favour, nor did knowing there was a whole new side to the world they had always taken for granted.

It didn't mean they would back off and stay away, no one would take away their brother without a fight. If they wanted one, they could come and get it.

History was seldom in favour of the little man, the self thought hardworn warrior.

But they had a story on their own, far away from the glory of the hero. Fighting the battles no one else seemed to care about.

They would be there in the end. Standing side by side with the warriors of old.

Standing on the right of the greatest one of all.

The one that would choose and make the decision that would make or break this world.
