One Week Later...

I got the job at Kingsman Inc. I will be the new secretary for my Ex-Husband starting today.

I am woken by an alarm beeping excessively. I roll over and hit the alarm. It stops beeping and I climb out of bed and cover my eyes with my hand as the sun shines brightly into my bedroom. I walk over to the cupboard and pull out a skirt, blouse and matching underwear and set them on the bed.

Heading toward the bathroom and slip into the shower. The water cascades over my body and I put a small amount of shampoo on my palm and wash my hair. I close my eyes and think of the last time I had been in this shower.

*Flashback*

"Babe, where are you?" I hear my boyfriend call.

"In the shower," I yell. "I want you to keep me company."

The door to the shower opens and Colter steps inside. He pushes me against the wall. He cups my arse in his hands. I wrap my legs around him as he thrusts inside me? He pulls out of me and slams back in. My back hits the wall as he keeps driving into me. Our bodies slap against each other. I feel my body shudder as I cum hard. Colter pulls out of me. He kisses my temple. "I love you, Lexi."

*End Flashback*

I shut off the water and step out of the shower. I have tears falling down my face.

How am I going to see my Ex Husband in the office without thinking of the good times we had before our daughter died?

I wrap the towel around my body and I enter the bedroom. Slipping on underwear and bra. I pull the skirt on and button the blouse. I run the brush through my hair. I lightly apply makeup and grab a Granola Bar from the cupboard. I pick up my handbag and keys from the bench I exit the house I shared with Colton.

Climbing into my red Mazda MX-5 2015 car. I start up the car and feel the vibrations against my legs. I pull the car into the road and head to Kingsman Enterprises.

At the parking lot, I show the security team my badge. They open the gate to the parking garage and I pull inside. I find a parking spot in the Board Member parking lot. I step out of the car and hit the alarm on the key. I enter the building and show my badge to the security team.

The security guy inserts a key into the lift and he checks what floor I'm going to. He enters the lift and presses the button for that floor. He exits the lift and I enter it. The lift goes up to the floor. The doors open and I step into a large foyer. A woman rises and walks over to me. "Hi, I'm Keene. Who are you?"

I smile. "I'm Alexis Martin. The new Secretary to Colton Kingsman."

"Shit! I didn't think they'd get a replacement for the last one."

I look her up and down. "So, you wanted the job?"

She nods. "Who wouldn't want to work closely with Colter? I heard from his other secretaries he's great in bed."

Gross! I don't need to be reminded how great my Ex-Husband is.

I shrug. "He's probably a dud. A guy that looks like him has to have some flaws."

She shakes her head. "No, he was built to perfection. You'll see when he gets here. I'll show you to your desk."

The woman shows me to the desk that will be mine.

I place my handbag underneath the table and boot up the computer. I leave my desk and turn the jug on. I make Colter and myself a coffee. I enter his office and place it on his desk. I look at the pictures he has on it. There are pictures of him with a little girl and he's smiling.

He should have been like that with our daughter.

I wipe my face as I feel tears fall down my face.

The door to the room opens and I turn to see Colter blocking the door. His jaw tightens as he sees me. "What the fuck are you doing in my office?"

I point to the table. "I'm your new secretary. I was just dropping off your coffee."

He shakes his head. "Get out of my office. I don't want to see you in here without me being inside. Do you understand, Alexis?"

I nod. "Yes, Sir."

His shoulder brushed against mine as he moves towards his desk. He takes a seat. "Do you need directions to your desk, Miss Martin?" He spits out.

I run out of the room and crash into a hard chest. I take a step back and look into the crystal blue eyes of Colter's twin brother.

Quentin smiles. "I'm glad you're back. Maybe, you can teach him to be a better person."

I laugh. "I can't do that. There was only one person that could do that and she died."

He wraps his arms around me. "Are you talking about your daughter?"

I nod.

"Mom and Dad want you to come over for dinner when you're ready. They want to talk to Colter and you."

I can't see his parents.

I step out of his arms. "Q, I can't see them. I'm sorry." I turn towards the office I just exited.

Quentin runs his fingers through his hair. "Ah, Lexi. My family and I need your help with Colter. You might be the only one to get through to him. We've tried talking to him about Peta, but, he keeps blocking us out. He doesn't want to talk about her. He also refuses to talk about you. He told the family you were in the past and he doesn't ever want to go back. I think he enjoys fucking any girl willing to open her legs for him. I don't think he got his heart back after you left."

I walk to my desk and sit. "His heart broke when his little princess died. I left because that's what he wanted. Every time he looked at me reminded him of the daughter he lost." I pack things into my handbag. "Tell him I had a family emergency." I rush out of the building.

When I make it to the car park I see my brother leaning against my car. He moves towards me. "Hey, Sis. I need to show you something. I'm driving."

I throw him my keys and I climb into the passenger seat. It feels weird not being behind the wheel.

Thirty minutes later, Benson pulls in front of a two-story brick house with a swinging chair on it. The lawns have been mowed and the flowers implanted five years ago are still alive.

I step out of the car and turn to my brother. "What are we doing in front of the house I owned five years ago?"

Benson pulls out a pair of keys. "This house is still yours. Colter gave me the keys when you took off. He said and I quote. 'If she returns I want her to have a house. I know I wasn't there for her when she needed me, but, I was grieving and I didn't know what I was missing until she left me. Please, leave everything the way it is and keep the yard tidy.' I kept my promise to him." He gives me the keys.

A limo pulls up behind my car. Benson looks at me. "I'm going home. If you need anything give me a call. I also dropped off your stuff. So, you don't need to go to Mom's place."

I hug my brother. "Thanks for taking care of the house." I wave to him before I step got the porch. I open the door to my house.

There are pictures of Colter and me on the walls. A flat-screen TV is connected to the wall and the floor is covered in movies. I walk up the stairs and head to the room that was my daughter's nursery. I open the door and see that it hasn't been touched.

I walk over to the church next to the window and I sit down. I pick up an elephant toy from the floor and I hold it.
