Markas POV:

I'm certainly sure that Zulais mother has changed her mind about my brothers marriage to her daughter. She's trying to get rid of me without making it seem obvious.

I've been going to her house for over two weeks now, but she hasn't given me a solid answer. For how long am I going to wait? I can't wait any longer. I am going to protect Iros ego, and mine as well. Rejecting Alhaji Tanko is understandable, we all know that he is way out of her league. But Iro my brother is a perfect match for Zulai, even though he has some weird beliefs.

It is well, I know what to do. if she doesn't marry Iro, I'll make sure she marries Alhaji Tanko. I will make sure I have done that which Alhaji dogo has instructed me to do a few weeks ago, which I had claimed that I had done. I didn't do it because I was hoping for a positive outcome, it's clearly not happening. Let me carry Alh Dogos stuff and be on my way to her house. Zulai is an easy target, I can easily fool her and lure her into my trap, The problem is her mother, I've never seen a wiser, stronger and more intelligent woman than her. I have to be very careful, or else I'll get busted.

Zulai

I have plans today, I'm going to jummais house because we have a lot to discuss. I got ready in less than twenty minutes and took off. I was on my way out when I came face to face with sani the bitter chameleon, I didn't expect him to come back after what had happened yesterday, I thought I had gotten rid of him. Without a word, I quickly picked up my shoes and ran out of the house. He tried to stop me but I didn't let him, I don't want a repeat of yesterday's meeting. There's no point wasting my valuable time on foolish people.

I turned back as I ran to see if sani was still chasing me when I instantly collided with a solid fleshy figure. I bumped into Marka, she was the last person I wanted to see. Not again, when will this woman give up, I'm not marrying her brother Iro and that's final.

Marka has been coming to our house for the past few weeks hoping for a positive outcome. my mother hasn't told her anything solid yet. It's evident that Marka is running out of patience.

I said hello to her, I was amazed by the way she responded, it was very nice. she had a wide smile plastered on her face which exposed her golden tooth as it shone. She asked me about my mother and I told her she was home.

Something about her behavior has changed, she's being super nice today. She took her time to talk to me and she kept bringing up different topics, topics that she knew would interest me. She bought me some sweets, a perfume and a very nice powder even though it was poorly packaged. She even called me pet names. What puzzled me was that she hasn't mentioned Iro her brother, my supposed future husband in our conversation, not even once.

After a while, we wished each other well and I hurriedly resumed walking. I was finally at jummais house, so was Lami. we decided to meet up there so that we could find a solution to Lamis problem, we desperately needed to find a way to get her out of her upcoming marriage with Alhaji Madugu.

Before we even got started, Lami came up with a brilliant idea. She suggested that we should face Alhaji Madugu, the filthy rich middle aged devil himself, so that we could make a deal with him. We believe that he is the only one that could help us out. we all agreed to it, It was scary but we had no choice. I just hope we don't end up with the same fates as did his eleven deceased wives. Lami chose to be accompanied by me. I was surprised, I didn't expect that, but I agreed because I didn't want to let her down. deep down, I know I wasn't the suitable candidate for this job. But I'd try my luck.

jummai got us prepared, She told us all the things We needed to say. we had a plan, a solid one.

On reaching Alhaji Madugus Mansion, I panicked with fear and froze in my tracks, this is a very bad idea I thought. I had a sudden change of heart, I'm sure he will murder us and make our bodies disappear before we even got to talk to him. I backed away and started running, but before I could go far Lami got a hold of me and forcefully pulled me back, she pushed me into the house and locked the gate.

"I have brought you your new bride as agreed. We had a deal and I have fulfilled my own end of the bargain. I hope you would do the same" Lami shouted, with her stony eyes fixed on the stony features of the man standing not far away from where we are. It was Alhaji Madugu, the man that instills fear in Every woman's heart.

The tall hulk of a man was towering over us with his fists clenched and his face expressionless. I wheeled around hearing his foot steps, but I couldn't go anywhere because Lami was blocking me. Alarmed with fear I shrieked with panic, I shouted and called out for help. I couldn't control the spasmodic trembling within me. I was unprepared for the scene unfolding before my eyes.

Stop shouting, nobody is going to eat you Madugu said In a very authoritative voice as he faced me.

I stammered, my tongue got twisted and my words got jumbled as I tried to talk. My mouth felt like it was glued together and it won't open again. His eyes lingered on my face for a while then it traveled down my body as it stops for a few seconds and examine every inch of it. His expression suddenly changed, His gaze lowered as did his voice.

Madugu was about to say something when we heard a knock on the door, surprised he rushed to the gate and opened it. Behold Tanimu my mystery guy, standing tall and handsome as always. I have never been more happier to see him. All he said was "I'm here for Zulai" in a strong, bold and yet confident voice. No one has ever faced Madugu like that, nobody had the guts.

The hulk of a man was enraged, his eyes were blazing with anger as he shot Tanimu a murderous look. tanimu didn't seem to care. I ran out of the house as if a wild animal was chasing me. The suffocating sensation of being locked in a house full of grief and melancholy finally set free as I inhaled the warm fresh air of freedom. Tanimu followed immediately, and we walked in silence.

I blinked back angry tears as I thought about Lamis betrayal. Lami is a traitor, she has betrayed me. I should have known better than to trust her. She decided to go fishing at the sharks pond, And I was the bait. She wanted to trade places with me so that she could save herself. I can't believe she wanted me dead. I walked to a very nice shade and sat there on a stone so that I could calm down and catch my breath.

What happened? A voice called out, the sweetest voice I have ever heard, a dreamy voice, perhaps the voice of an angel. I turned and looked at Tanimu, my mystery guy, the owner of the voice while he stares at me intensely, I stare back at an equal intensity. Somehow, this has become an unannounced staring competition. He stepped closer lowering his head, so that his eyes were level with mine, I can't decide if he's something I want to run away from or embrace.

Embarrassed I removed my gaze, but my eyes couldn't help dragging to his smooth face, his perfectly shaped thick lips and his bold deep brown eyes. His tongue quickly darted out to lick his dry lips that I couldn't take my eyes off. The very air around us seemed electrified, his gaze melted my knees like jellies. A faint light twinkled in the depths of his dark brown eyes and a satanic smile spread across his lips making my heart lurch upside down.
