After a year, Mori-san made them partners.

During that time, Dazai almost didn't think about his soulmate. Almost. Sometimes he would casually ask his boss, receiving a patronizing chuckle and a minimum of information. Not that it offended him. After meeting the shorty, his curiousness didn't quiet down.

They worked surprisingly well together. Ougai was satisfied, and they handled missions perfectly. Dazai would pick on him every chance he got, tease him, enjoying his heated reactions. The left corner of Chuuya's lips would twitch every time he got angry. He would raise his voice and hit without holding back, but Osamu only found it funny.

"Chuuuuuya, how long are you going to chill there?" the brown-haired called. The teenagers were ready to return after another mission. When Nakahara didn't answer, the mobster headed towards him with a doomed sigh.

His partner was standing, leaning on a rusted wall and staring up with a thoughtful look.

"They say," the red-haired started when the mobster stepped closer to him, "soulmates are people made from one star."

Dazai was frozen because at that moment, Chuuya looked completely...different. Moonlight slid dimly across his relaxed face, especially highlighting his eyes. He seemed to see his partner this relaxed for the first time. His voice was unusually quiet, nothing like his usual screaming. The brown-haired inhaled and noticed that he had been unwillingly holding a breath. Moving his gaze to the sky, he saw twinkling starlight. The sky looked like a bluish black canvas. It seemed if you stretch you hand forward, you'd get a feeling of a cool silk on your finger pads.

A perfect person for you—the one who had everything you needed.

"Nonsense."

There was silence for a second, leading to Nakahara's small laugh.

"Yeah."

Dazai blinked surprised, and gasped when he turned his head. Chuuya was still looking at the sky, his lips stretched into a mocking smile. The red-haired faced him, brown eyes met bright blue ones and...

Oh.

The mark on his wrist was burning with pain.
