Flamefoot stared in shock at the place where Darkwind had just been. All that was visible now was a huge mass of sharp branches and leaves. Behind the tree stood a single twoleg holding up some sort of flat shiny silver thing that flashed in the moonlight. More twolegs appeared, and they seemed to be going straight for the assembled clans.

Cats were screeching and dashing all over the place. The majority of them ran towards the treebridge, but twolegs were swarming up around it. One cat didn't turn fast enough, and the nearest twoleg lunged and caught it with pink, hairless paws. The poor apprentice was stuffed inside of a strange looking den before they could escape.

With the swirl of cats flowing around him, Flamefoot had been sitting in a daze, still shocked by Darkwind's... He dreaded what he was about to think.

Finally shaking himself out of his stupor, Flamefoot dashed across the clearing and and skidded to a stop next to the tree. Despite the twolegs, which were advancing on the shore at a frightening pace, he dove into the branches and searched for any sign of Darkwind.

Wait! What was that? He stretched his paws out and felt his claws snag a bit of fur. Anxiously, Flamefoot tried to shove aside the branches, but they were too strong for him to move by himself.

Suddenly, he felt fur brush up against his, and he saw a flicker of striped brown fur. Rocktail was beside him, and he gripped a particularly large branch with his teeth and pulled. The limb moved just enough for Flamefoot to squeeze in, and he stuck his upper body into the mass of leaves.

He felt around for Darkwind, and soon felt fur beneath his paws. Flamefoot knelt as best as he could next to the black cat, who was almost invisible in the shadows.

Darkwind coughed, and the metallic smell of blood floated in the air. The brief flash of hope Flamefoot felt was quickly extinguished when he saw just how badly hurt the medicine cat was.

Darkwind's hind legs were crushed, and he had a gash in his side that was steadily pouring out blood. It was a miracle he was even alive at this point.

Flamefoot moved forward, trying his best not to jostle Darkwind in the cramped space. He heard a faint whisper come from the black cat, and he leaned in closer to hear what he was saying.

"...Flamefoot, the prophecy... remember where you came from... but also... remember... where your home is...."

Darkwind's flanks started to rise and fall slower, until they stopped altogether. Flamefoot gazed at him mournfully as he left to join StarClan.

He hadn't known Darkwind well enough to call him a good friend, but he held a great respect for the cat guided his pawsteps in ShadowClan. He would be missed dearly, for a great cat was lost.

A shriek from above pulled Flamefoot back into the situation. Twolegs were everywhere, and while most of the cats were able to escape, a great number of them were being scooped up and locked into twoleg dens.

Flamefoot pulled himself out of the tree and looked around wildly for the source of the scream. It had been Rocktail, who was bristling at a twoleg that was advancing on him. Flamefoot growled, and his claws slipped out. He would make these twolegs pay for the terror they had caused.

Snarling, he leaped at the twoleg reaching for Rocktail, and smacked it's hairless paw away. Flamefoot sprang into the air and latched onto the twoleg's arm as it howling in anger.

He held on tight, his claws stuck deep in the fleshy arm of the twoleg. The large creature howled even louder and began slamming it's paw and Flamefoot into the cut down tree.

Pain flashed before his eyes, and in a daze he let go. Flamefoot smashed into the ground, right next to Rocktail. Blackness was clouding his vision, so he didn't have much time to act.

He threw out a paw and pushed Rocktail into the tree's leaves, just barely hiding him from sight. The twoleg, still quite angry, only saw Flamefoot move, and it roughly grabbed him and threw him inside one of the small dens.

The last thing Flamefoot saw was Rocktail's terrified face amidst the branches as he felt his den being carried away. Then the darkness overtook him, and everything went black.

{authors note- well, since nobody saw the cliffhanger before I published this part, I kinda made it useless. But oh well, I'm just glad I could hammer out another chapter. :3 don't forget to comment, and vote if you like it!}
