Today at church we had an auction because we're collectively buying Christmas presents for almost 200 foster kids. People had donated items to be auctioned off and all the money would go in the Christmas gift fund.

I thought I would poke around a little, just out of curiosity. I pushed aside some dishes and homemade gingerbread cookies, and froze in my tracks.

It. Was. A. WEBKINZ.

WITH A TAG.

A WEBKINZ SHEEP IN A PLASTIC BAG HAD APPEARED AT MY CHURCH TWO DAYS AFTER MY INNER CONFLICT.

Clearly it was meant to be. I guess you could call it a "Godsend."

The auction took forever and two elderly ladies got into a bidding war over cow windchimes. I actually kind of wanted them, too, but it wasn't worth stepping into this crossfire.

Then, finally, the man at the podium waved the plastic-wrapped Webkinz over his head. "I don't think anyone's bid on this. Name a price."

Me, prepared to fight to the bloody end: EIGHT DOLLARS.

*silence*

Man at podium: SOOOOLD!

Can you believe this actually happened? Because I can't. I think of Webkinz for the first time in a decade, I wrestle with getting one just so I can decorate another room, and then of all things that could be at an auction, a Webkinz appears two days later. And also, the money went to a good cause so I didn't feel guilty.

I brought her home and posted this on Facebook asking for name suggestions.

@Silmarilz1701 won with her suggestion of Petunia.

I never planned on keeping the physical version of Petunia, so I tried not to look at her too much lest I get attached. I cut off her code, put her in my Operation Christmas Child box, and then headed to my laptop with the code.

So first of all the adoption process has changed a little bit since I last did it.

The goose lady (forgive me for forgetting her name) sent me to "pick up" Petunia and she was literally in an orphanage or something.

Look at her in there. So forlorn.

Also, the goose just stood in there awkwardly and if you clicked on her she offered strange advice.

Oookay.

Anyway, I had business to attend to, namely decorating a Webkinz room. I picked up Petunia and it was onwards to the Webkinz mansion.
