   Lucy's  POV:

It had been only two days since I last wrote to him.

Why did I sense something was wrong?

I shook my head. Perhaps, I was paranoid. After all, what could; happen in two days?

I threw a pebble at the lake. So, it was a creek. Who cares?

I felt a hand touch my shoulder.

I turned around and saw my father.

"Lucy, I have something important to tell you. It's about Morgan, and I think you should sit down for this."

I took a seat on the bench out back. My father sighed.

       "Yes, daddy, what is it?"

"He is not well. He is in the hospital."

I gasped in shock at the bad news.

       "What happened?"

"His maid came in to clean and found him unconscious on the floor of his kitchen."

"He held your letter clutched to his chest."

"The doctors believe he had a heart attack right before he blackened out."

"They have to run some tests to know for sure."

I stood up with tears in my eyes and ran towards the house.

I went to my room where I saw my suitcase sitting on my bed.

          I packed my things.

My father came in behind me and hugged me.

He did not have to say a word. He already knew how important Morgan was to me.

"I promise I will text or call you when I get there."

"Alright, and I will let your mother know."

I nodded my head in agreement. My mother was out of town at her sister's house as Aunt Melitada's baby could be born soon.

I hugged my father. I  grabbed my suitcase and put on my hat, gloves, and scarf. My smaller bag already had my boots in it.  I was glad to see my crochet stuff, pens, and journal was all set to go.

My father drove me to the train station despite my protest. Once, there he paid for my ticket and handed me an envelope full of money.  The cash is for if you get hungry on the journey there.  He insisted I take it.

I tucked it into the inside zipper part of my bag.

I hugged him one more time before he pulled away from the station.

the story continues in  Bonus Chapter 5

     Until then,

    bye, bye, little owlets!

   Summer out!
