Chapter 3
Morgan's POV:
I tried to get on Lucy's good side.
I smiled at her, but she just scowled at me.
I had no idea why she reacted this way.
It was not my fault my cousin ditched her.
I was not to blame for the breakup.
Sure, I might have introduced him to the new girl.
How was I supposed to know he would run off with her?
I always had a crush on Lucy.
I mean it.
I noticed the way her strawberry red hair curled at the ends, her dimples when she smiled, and her eyes. Wow, she was one sight for sore eyes!
I had it bad for her.
I gave Rex a treat.
I wished Lucy would forgive me.
I longed to kiss her.
How could I get her to realize I was not the enemy?
"Lucy, please do not hate me." I pleaded with her.
I saw her as she scowled and walked away. I should have fought for her years ago. I never told her the truth was that Ned only dated her because my folks set them up. I did not want to hurt her.
My silence turned out to be what hurt her more.
I sighed.
I walked over to her.
I placed a hand on her shoulder.
I was shocked she did not pull away.
I wished she would let me explain everything.
I heard the snap of a camera.
I realized her mother had taken our photo.
I let go of her shoulder.
As everyone got in the car, I sat in silence.
The quietness of the ride was awful.
Once at the place where the festival was to take place, I got out. I stood by a tree.
I looked at the ground.
I should never have come.
I did not look up when someone handed me a snow cone.
I ate it without a word.
A few minutes later, I felt someone grab my hand.
Who was it?
I glanced their way and saw her.
I knew then, it was not Lucy.
"Sorry, but I am here with someone." I lied.
I watched as the girl walked away with a glume look on her face.
I sat back under the tree. Soon, I drifted off.
