My head vibrates, jolting me awake. I must have fallen asleep scrolling through social media again. Pulling the phone out from underneath me I check my messages. I moan when I see the time, but the annoyed feeling doesn't last long when I spot Max's name. My heart can't seem to produce steady beats, not with the kiss replaying in my head.

Fear grips me. What if I mess up and the Hollywood Lennox shows up again? I'm getting a second chance, and I hope I don't screw it up.

Max: Hey. I know I'm early. I've got a bad case of insomnia. I'm here and I've got breakfast.

When Max asked me to go on the boat with him, I didn't see it as a date since we are going in a group. Now here he is waiting outside with breakfast for us and no one else. It's starting to feel like a date, not that I mind. I like Max. Maybe even more than I thought.

Me: What is open at 5am?

Throwing the blankets off, I traipse over to the window, tugging the white laced curtains aside. Rob's truck sits in my driveway with Max sitting in the driver side. From here I can see the light of his phone illuminating the cab of the truck.

Max: Well, only the best breakfast Long Island has to offer – plus I know the perfect spot!

Me: A spot where two teenagers won't get arrested for being in a car parked?

Max: LOL! Yes, a place where we can go and won't end up in handcuffs. Although – just kidding. We should hurry though, or we'll miss the show.

When I first met Max after the airport I pegged him as a serious guy, but lately I've noticed he has a cute sense of humor.

Me: Show?

Max: Just hurry.

He texts back, adding an emoji with its tongue sticking out.

I send him a quick text to say that I'll be down in a few, then I get ready. Last night I packed a bag filled with extra clothing and other necessities like sunblock and a few snacks. I grab the pack from its spot on the floor beside the door, and tip toe down the steps so I don't wake anyone.

The lock pops as I reach the truck. Sliding in, I rest the pack between my legs. Beside me is a brown bag. Onion, bacon, garlic, and the scent of freshly baked bread surrounds us. I inhale deeply then glance up catching Max's grin.

"What?" I ask, narrowing my eyes.

He chuckles. "Nothing. I'm guessing you like bagels?"

"I could smell them the minute I walked out my front door," I joke.

"You New Yorker's and your damn bagels," he smirks, attempting a New York accent and failing miserably.

"No, Long Island bagels. Get it right." I tease, shaking my head.

I don't know when our relationship when from awkward and trying to avoid each other to teasing and kissing, but the change is welcomed.

"Oh, my mistake."

On that note, Max backs out down the driveway and we start towards our destination. It's been years since I've been out on a boat. I was maybe eight and I got really sick. I've flown and even gone on a cruise since then, so, I should be good.

Long Island is mostly quiet this time of morning, it's rare for anywhere on this tiny piece of land to be deserted. This whole island is mostly a cluster of cars and if you hit it at the wrong time you're going to be sitting at a slow crawl for hours.

I keep my eyes out the window as we drive down Montauk Highway. We get there in record time thanks to Max coming early. There's a large parking lot, and at the end a boat ramp. Max parks in the back of the lot, but close to the exit.

The sky is painted with shades of purple and pink and it's reflecting off the bay making beautiful swirls of colors in the choppy waves. We take a seat right on the water's edge, there are only two other people here, the first group already putting their boat into the water.

Max slides the bag over to my end of the bench. "I've got some bagels with nothing on them, and I also got two with eggs and bacon," he says.

"Do you happen to have an everything bagel?"

Max digs his hand into the bag, it crinkles loudly as he does. He pulls one out wrapped in foil and hands it to me.

"It's my favorite too," he says, taking out the second one.

We both quietly watch the sun slowly getting bigger in the sky. I take a huge bite and some eggs fall onto my lap. Real lady like, Lennox! I roll my eyes at my clumsiness and reach into the bag for a napkin. Warm skin touches mine and my body tenses. It feels like several minutes pass before either of us move our hands away.

Max clears his throat. "What did you miss most about Long Island?"

I shift my body to face him. He does the same and our legs bounce into each other. Soft laughter tumbles from our lips in unison.

"There are a lot of places I love, but the one place that makes me feel like I'm home is Jones Beach. Nothing like seeing a show being surrounded by the ocean," I say, taking another bite of my bagel.

Max swallows the food he's chewing on. "I love Jones Beach," he says. "In fact, I have a funny story actually. Uncle Rob took me there a few years back. He got us tickets to the Warped Tour and ended up getting a broken nose in the mosh pit."

I can't help, but laugh, even though I probably shouldn't. I've only met the guy twice, but it's not hard to picture him doing that. He seems like a fun uncle. Like the ones you break all the rules with.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to laugh," I say.

Max chuckles. "It's okay. I'm still in shock that he's getting married in August. Married with a baby on the way. I just hope I can still come back next summer. I'm thinking of going to school here, so I'll hopefully be able to live on a college campus," he says.

"Oh, well congrats to them. They're one of those couples that complement each other well, and when you look at them, you'd never think they'd be together."

"I know right? She's so much more grown up than he is. My uncle is like a teenager trapped in a forty-year-olds body."

I love how easy it is to laugh with him right now. Nothing about this date feels awkward or weird. Every second I spend with him gives me more insight on the amazing guy Max is. I can't help crushing hard on him right now.

"I'm glad they are coming to the premier, it should be..." I pause. "Interesting."

"I'm excited," he says.

I raise a brow at him.

"What?" He grins. "I'm giving the show another chance."

My mind wanders to VGMaster and how he also started to watch the show. For a minute I think about all the conversations I've had with VGMaster and Max and it's almost like — no there's no way. I shake the thought from my mind.

"Really? That's the second person I've spoken to that I've influenced to give the show a second chance. Damn I'm good."

My body has a mind of its own, and I lean into him. As I go in, he does at the same time, and a warmth so hot I'm almost feverish envelopes me. I was happy about leaving California to come back home, because I missed my dad's, but now I'm even more so, because I've found someone new in my life who likes me for me and not because I'm famous. And that's the best feeling in the world.
