Just think about this:
Every morning, Jay runs for miles to work on his stamina. He would go by himself but Nya insists to tag along with him, so they end up racing, and of course Jay wins almost everytime, after all, he's the fastest ninja. The loser gets to buy icecream for the winner. But Jay, being the gentleman he is, would let Nya precede him on purpose from time to time.
