Choosing the right apprentice.

Choosing the right apprentice is a big part of being a medicine cat. You need to make sure this cat will succeed at helping your Clan and you need someone that can handle the responsibility. Here are some tips and qualities to look for in a cat:

1) - Make sure the kits you're are looking for have a sense of love. Make sure they are caring to others and that they want to help.

2) - Try making kits help you with herbs and teach them how to handle someone who is sick or injured. It will give a great insight on what that kit would be like helping you as the medicine cat apprentice.

3) - See if a kit has an injury and weakness. For example, if they are blind or are paralyzed, they might be a great help to you and the Clan and they won't feel like they are doing nothing to help anyone.

4) - Make sure that kit enjoys helping you out. If they hate it, you shouldn't force them to be the medicine cat apprentice. Make sure that the rank suits them.

5) - Ask them questions. Ask them what they wish to be and ask them how they feel about their Clan. You could really get a sense of their behavior and goals by doing this.

6) - Be careful. You won't want a cat who isn't committed to the job and who isn't willing to be a medicine cat. Try and learn more about them for a while before you take the next step.

7) - Make sure their loyalty and respect towards you and the Clan is high. You wouldn't want someone slacking off when they should be preventing a death.
