It's been a couple of hours since you spoke with the princesses. As you were about to leave, Selene handed you a scroll.

" In it are the names of the mares who will accompany you on this journey," She says.

"Mares?"  You give her a quizzical look. " I was expecting a stallion or two."

Celeste shares a glance with her sisters before answering,

" Our race is made up of more females than males. But over the years the male population has been reducing. Then the war with the Changelings occurred. The number dropped so far down that it got to a point where we had to hide the few stallions away and seek help from our allies," She explains.

"Why didn't you seek assistance from your allies in the first place?" You ask them.

" We had fought the Changelings before and completely dominated them. We..." Celeste pauses. " We thought it would be the same as when we last fought. By the time we realized that was not the case, the number of casualties we sustained was far greater than anything we had anticipated."

" We thought we could still salvage the situation but we soon realized it was too late for that. We had no other choice but to seek aid."

" So your pride nearly wiped out your kind," you summarize.

None of the three dare meet your gaze. They aren't so different from the folks back home, or a few from the timelines you've been to.

" So how many stallions are left?" You ask.

" Less than a hundred, " Selene replies.

"And how many mares are left?" You ask.

" Recent reports estimate over half a million."

You look at the trio, chuckle, and leave the room. Right outside, leaning against a wall is 682. It's bright yellow eyes lock onto you. Begrudgingly you approach the indestructible beast.

" What do you think of this? " You raise the map for her to see.

" Why do you think I have any knowledge of this," She hisses.

You say nothing and walk away. As you make your way down a corridor, you hear muffled voices. You easily detect the source, a nearby room. Utilizing an alternative form of vision, you make out six energy signatures, each distinct in more ways than one. One suddenly jolts and makes a series of hand gestures to the others.

Without any more hesitation, you barge into the room. It is one of luxury, an ornate table sits at the center of the lavishly decorated room.

Near the door is a pile of brightly colored coats of fur. You approximate six and easily determine most if not all to be females.

" Get off me," one groans as someone rises from beneath the pile.

You take a seat on a conveniently placed chair and watch the group untangle themselves. The first one to notice you is a cream-colored one with soft pink hair and a pair of wings matching her fur. Her lilac eyes widen and she immediately shrinks behind a tanned and muscular mare who has blonde hair which would reach her waist.

The muscular one looks irritated but that expression quickly changes to one of concern.

" Would you move already?! " A female cries out in a posh British accent.

The duo is pushed away as a third mare rises out. Her fur is pale white with both lilac hair and eyes. A spiral horn protrudes from her forehead.

She is about to lash out at her colleagues but stops short after putting together who exactly was in the same room with her.

" I wanna see! " A high-pitched voice yells. Its owner is another cream-colored mare with soft yellow hair ending in curls.

" Ugh, why am I always the one at the bottom?" A fourth voice questions two mares, one blue with multi-colored hair. The second is a mare with true purple fur but like the first cream-colored mare, she too has wings.

The two immediately freeze under your gaze. In total six mares are standing in front of you.

The light pink-haired one avoids direct eye contact with you. The blonde one stands cross-armed and meets your gaze head one. The lilac-haired one gives you a look that reminds you of the aristocrats you met during a mission through time. The multi-colored hair has the same stance as the blonde-haired one. The light blonde-haired one has an aura of pent-up energy and is barely able to hold in her excitement. The second winged one simply observes you, her gaze is one of curiosity which you, unfortunately, have the displeasure of experiencing at various foundation sites.

Even though you just met them, you have a sense that you will be meeting this particular group once again.

" Hiya!" The cream-haired one all but yells as she gets up and close.

" Cream, don't get too close to it! " The purple one orders.

' Her parents didn't certainly waste time with finding a name for her. ' You think.

" Can it even talk? " The lilac-haired one asks in a condescending tone.

You are immediately tempted to give a derogatory comment but you restrain yourself and simply watch the group.

" Well, I think it's cute," Cream answers. " But I haven't seen anything like this up close before."

Now that each member of the group is visible, you pay closer attention to each one. From left to right, each mare is dressed in casual clothes which might give a clue to their personalities. The one that immediately catches your attention is the lilac-haired, horned, one.

She wears an outfit that easily shows of her affluent background. The second member of the group to draw your attention is the second mare with a horn atop her scalp. Her gaze is nearly identical to one of the newly recruited scientists at whatever base you found yourself at that time.

The remainder of the group consists of two tomboys, the blonde-toned one and the rainbow-haired one who discretely reveals a pair of wings, a shy one and a hyperactive one. She reminds you of 999 when it has anything that either contains a lot of sugar or caffeine.

Without reason, you thrust your left arm to the side and rip a hole in reality.  Reaching in, you feel around until you find what you are looking for and pull it out. The looks on their faces are truly priceless.
