Incase you didn't know , a bhutewala is called a corn seller in Hindi .

'Was a rainy Friday night ,
I was coming back home
Grumbling ,

When we decided to
Stop for bhutas :

After all what could be more
Perfect than eating corn in rain?

It was just me and my dad
Walking through the
crowd-lit streets, Of Colaba.

Like always , I was dazzled .

3 years down the lane ,

Yet this place still continues

To keep me amazed :—

Located in the topnotch
Corner of south Mumbai
Colaba has it all ,

It's a jewel in itself ,
It's where the hearts of
Mumbaikars sail .

Its like a beautiful- traditional
Indian wedding ,

The causeway is the body—
Covered with bright clothes , sparkly
jewelry .
The streets are the carpet ,
Full of glimmering lights
And crowds .

The heart also has
A very popular market .

From the corner itself
I could recognise you ,
As you had bhutas along
With coal lined up.

Sparks of fire , were going up
Like free birds.

You were a teenager like me ;

But

A teenager with unlit koyla
And void gaze.

A teen ,
Burning his hands ; becoming ashy
Only to earn some amounts of money

Which we all take
Granted for .

That's when
Reality seeped in ;

I truly realised my privilege .

You made me more humble ,
By really opening my eyes to the world.

You made me realise how

I take things for granted ;

How I diminish their value .

You made me realise
How I take the sacrifices of my dad
For granted .

How we privileged people
Throw around money
Without thinking about it .

You popped my bubble of
Living in south Mumbai .

You made me realize

That even though we might

Not realize : There's always
Something new to learn.

An unopened door ,

Waiting for you

Wanting to show you the world .

You made me realise :

‘Whilst we are here enjoying

And taking  money for granted ;

There are people
who are struggling
To earn them .

You gave me a new perspective
And a deeper understanding .

You made me truly realise my
Privilege
And that in return
Made me more humble .
