Words failed to describe how much Serephius loathed that old witch lady. It was all her fault, she ruined his day with Lilith. Now he had to find Lilith and make amends with her. She was probably upset at him.

Serephius broodingly strolled down the street, the same street he once walked with Lilith just a few hours ago before he heartlessly abandoned her for whatever selfish reason of his.

As he trudged along the path absentmindedly, he found himself in front of a jewellery store, the same jewellery store where Lilith had oogled on a small emerald ring a few hours ago. It seemed like whenever Serephius thought of something, his thoughts always carried him to Lilith, unknowingly.

He tried to ignore the jewellery store and walk away but his feet wouldn't budge from the spot as his mind recalled how much Lilith relised at the sight of that ring. With a defeated sigh, he ventured inside. Perhaps, he could gift Lilith the ring she wanted as a token of apology for his past actions.

"Welcome. Welcome, young Lord. What can I get for you?"

A small and fat, middle aged immortal greeted him. He seemed to be the owner of the store.

"That." Serephius pointed his finger towards the emerald ring that was showcased on the store's window.

"Ah. I see. This one?" The store owner brought out the ring.

"Yes. Ugh-ahem." Serephius coughed, he was secretly feeling embarassed now. Luckily, he was the only customer in the store.

"Excellent choice!" The store owner shouted, almost startling him. "The emerald ring, quite a unique one. Are you going to propose to a lady, my young lord?" He asked.

"No. It's for my...wife."

"Wife?!" The store owner looked at him incredulously. "You are already married and you are buying a wedding ring for your wife only now?!"

"Is there something wrong with that?"

"Yes! Everything is wrong with that. This is not how you treat your wife. What a lousy husband you are. Listen here, I see you're quite handsome but looks don't matter. It's the heart that matters in the long run. I feel bad for the poor wife, having an ignorant husband like you."

"Is giving a wedding ring that much of a big deal?" Serephius asked.

"Yes! It is!" The fat store owner thundered. "Do you know what a wedding ring even symbolises, do you?"

"No."

The owner gaped at him. "Do you treaure your wife?"

A full minute of silence later...

"... I do." Serephius replied.

"A wedding ring is the universal symbol of marriage. It signifies eternal love, devotion and commitment. It is a lifetime's promise between the two couples. When you give the ring to her, you are expressing, without words, how much you love and care for her. So take this ring and go, my dear young Lord. Profess your undying love to your beautiful wife and may the everlasting flames of your harmonious romance ignite once again." The store owner sang in his ears. "But you gotta pay for that." He continued.

"I know."

"Ah..wait. The ring comes with a pair. This.." The owner brought out another ring which was bigger and more masculine. "I think this will be perfect for you. Don't worry about the size. It will definitely fit both of you."

"I'll take them."

"Excellent. Let me pack this up nicely for you." After a minute, the store owner handed him the beautifully decorated ring box wrapped in a small, cute bag. "Now run along, exchange these rings with your beautiful wife and profess your undying love for each other." He repeated again.

Overcomed with embarrassment, Serephius quickly paid him and vanished in a puff of smoke, not wanting to linger a second longer with the crazy store owner.
