The girl walked towards the little boy making a flower crown in the grass. Seeing her approach, he smiled and tried to move away, thinking he was in her way of a particular flower.

"Hi!" She said instead, "what are you doing?"

The boy smiled wider, for no one had talked to the boy since the beginning of the school day, and he was quite eager for a conversation. "I'm making a crown for my mom, because my dad said that she was a queen."

"Really??" The girl gasped, "Does that make you a Prince?"

The Boy took a second to think, but it didn't take long for him to realize that she was right. "Yeah, it does! I should make me a crown too..."

"Yeah..." the girl paused, and then sighed, "I wish I was a princess..."

The Boy didn't know what he should say, but he didn't want to see the girl sad. He ended up blurting, "You can be a princess! All you need is a crown! Want me to make you one?"

She laughed in excitement, "You would do that? Yes please!! Let me help you!"

And so, the boy and the girl spent the rest of the short school day in the grass patch near the playground. That was the start of a new friendship, one that would last years. The girl was obviously a little ball of joy, and boy wanted nothing more than to let her meet his mom. He knew she would love his new friend, especially if they all had crowns, like a family of royalty.

The Boy made only two crowns that day, however, and gave one to the girl.

"Thanks!" The girl said as the last bell rang, marking the end of the day. The boy just smiled, standing up and then helping her to do the same.

"Lucy!" A man's voice called out. The girl jumped and grinned, waving goodbye to the boy before running to the man. It must have been her father.

The boy waved back meekly, the flower crown still hanging by his hand loosely. When she was gone, he found no reason to stay there, so he left and went on his way home. He knew he would have to go back alone, but that was fine, because it wasn't far.

Just as he got home safely, he walked around his quaint house and to the backyard where his mom would be gardening or reading a book on a big chair. He walked even further, to the forest like space behind his home.

"Mommy!" The Boy called out, "I'm home!"

There was no answer.

"I got a friend today, mom! She's really nice, and I think you'll love her. She helped me make this, Mom! It's a crown, just for you, because daddy said you were a Queen, and queens wear crowns, right? I hope you like it." The boy placed the flowers gently on the wooden Cross before sitting beside the grave.

Exactly where she asked to get buried if she died.

The boy looked down at the dirt.

"Mommy? Talk to me, please?"
