A scream escaped her perfectly shaped lips, but the stranger immediately put his hand over her mouth.

All she had left to do was scream into his hand.

He tried to quiet her with a gesture, but that didn't turn out so well (she didn't know the ways of society).

So all he did was say, "Please stay quiet. I'm not trying to harm you in any way. I was just wandering through here and happened to bump into you."

As Amber began to calm down and stop resisting, he cautiously peeled his hand from her mouth. She took a deep breath and looked into his big brown eyes.

He had dirty blonde, shaggy hair and a round face that made his smile perfect.

Amber blinked to make herself come back to reality, and stuttered, "H-hi. I'm Amber."

"What a beautiful name," he sighed. "I'm Cody."

She smiled. "Well, Cody, welcome to my neck of the woods."

"You live here?" he questioned. "Where are your parents?"

"My parents died while traveling through the woods. That's how I ended up here." She gestured all around her.

He looked up. "Really is a beautiful place," he said.

"Almost as beautiful as you," he whispered under his breath so she couldn't hear.

She looked back into his face and hastily said, "Hey, I have something to show you!" Amber grabbed Cody's wrist and dragged him to the edge of the forest.

As soon as they got there, Cody's jaw dropped in awe. Rows and rows of sunflowers. Bright, beautiful, yellow sunflowers.

"Amber, it's... it's... gorgeous."

She giggled joyously. "I know. I've been growing it since I was five. Really something, huh?"

Cody was speechless.

They went and sat down in the field. It was a wonderful night, a slight breeze, the perfect temperature.

"Cody," Amber curiously said.

"Yes?" Cody responded.

"What is life like in the village?"

"Very... hard, actually. You work on farms all day and cook. But, it is quite magical. Much different than this life would be."

"Oh, most definitely. Here I wake up the forest every morning, collect food, make clothes, and ugh."

She leaned on his shoulder, feeling like with him, it was a break. A break from her rough life.

It may seem like she is stupid for not going into the village, but she never gained the bravery.

The two new friends just sat there all night talking, learning thing after thing about each other.

The only thing they forgot to talk about was how they were each falling heads over heels for each other.
