Alex:Hey Mom. If you don't mind me asking, what happened to Ben's parents?

Thea looked at him and sighed.

Alex:If you don't want to tell me, it's alright.

Thea:No no no. I figured I was gonna have to tell you at some point.

She sat next to him on the couch.

Thea:Ben is the son of Geronimo and I's younger brother, Daniel. Daniel was the most fun loving of us. Always looking for a good time. When he got married and had Ben, we were happy for him...sadly, that came to an end one day.

Alex:What happened?

Thea shed a few tears.

Thea:When Ben was three, his parents were driving home from work when a runaway car ended up driving into theirs. The other driver died and Daniel and his wife were in critical condition. Me and Geronimo raced to the hospital to see them. The doctors did all they could to help them, but there wasn't anything they could do. As Daniel laid on his deathbed, he asked for Geronimo and I to look after Ben.

Thea was tearing up when recounting the story.

Thea:It was hard for us. But we eventually managed to move on.

Alex comforted his Mom.
