Barbie was originally supposed to be the love interest of Woody in Toy Story, but Mattel (the creator company of Barbie) refused to allow Barbie in the film, believing the movie would fail. But, it was the highest grossing film of 1995, thus, Mattel jumped at the chance of Barbie being in Toy Story 2.
