We all know Robin Williams voices the Genie in Aladdin. But what you didn't know, he also voiced the merchant in the beginning of the movie.

And there is a theory I found on the internet about this since the merchant is the one telling us the story and he is telling us after it happened.

At the beginning of the movie, the merchant is the one with the lamp. But how did he get it?

Do you remember the scene after Aladdin wishes to set Genie free then Genie asks him to wish for something else to see if it worked? Well, after that scene, Aladdin is the one seen holding the lamp. Then, after Genie finally believes he is free, he bounces around. The next shot, we see Aladdin without the lamp. Did Genie take it?

Does he fly off as his remaining Genie powers drain away, leaving him a mortal man, penniless in the desert with nothing to do but sell old relics as he tells passerbys of his oldfriend Aladdin?

We may never know.
