I stand there watching the sunset,
I watch the sun leave the horizon
With all its glory,
Leaving behind darkness.

I look up to see
the moon and stars
shinning bright,
Bright enough to light up
the darkness,
But not bright enough
to eliminate it.

With that the oddly
comforting darkness
envelopes me into its embrace.
And I surrender
myself for the night ahead.
