Originally, I thought curled ears were cute on cats! And who would think otherwise,(especially since Scottish Folds exist)?

However, this unfortunately can cause hearing problems in cats. It can be sad that as humans, we have selectively bred certain cats to produce features we find "cute", rather, than to produce a healthy animal. The same goes with dogs too.

The German Shepherd, one of my absolute favourite breeds out there. Fluffy, cute and loyal dogs, they make amazing family pets and work efficiently, which is why they are often used in the work force. However, many German Shepherd fans know that there are two types of German Shepherd:

A), The Working Line German Shepherd, used in the work force as working dogs.

And,

B), Showline German Shepherds, which are Used in dog shows.

The Working Line German Shepherd is a great dog, with no apparent health risks/issues coming from the structure of the breed itself. However, Showlines are different. Because of selective breeding, Show line German Shepherds have sloping backs, which lead to severe lower back problems, hip problems and joint problems to name a few.

Another example of selective breeding going too far are breeds like the Persian cat and Pug, which have faces so flattened they struggle greatly to breathe.

In the end, all I can do is encourage you to research and make sure the breed you may choose to own is an ethical one.
