Top 10 Guest Characters for Soul Calibur 6

Now that Soul Calibur 6 has finally officially been announced, I think it's about time to start discussing what we'd like to see in it. Specifically guest characters. The Soul series has had guest characters since the second game, where Link from the Legend of Zelda series, Spawn from the Todd McFarlane comic series, and Heihachi from Tekken were playable in the GameCube, XBox, and PS2 versions of the games respectively. The fourth game even went so far as to include Darth Vader and Yoda from Star Wars, as well as Starkiller (though he was just named Apprentice) from The Force Unleashed video games. Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed was included in the most recent game. But now that a new game is being released, I came up with some ideas for new guest characters.

10. Kylo Ren (Star Wars)

Seeing as Star Wars was already represented in the Soul series, it's not too far fetched to see the violent, impulsive, and unpredictable Kylo Red from the new Star Wars sequel trilogy appear in the game. I imagine he'd be a fast and powerful character, but with very low defence, representing how he fights in the movies. His alternate costume could simply just be him without his mask, though I'm not sure is a motion capture of Adam Driver's face would fit in well with the anime-esque proportions of the regular cast of characters.

9. Deadpool (Marvel Comics)

Deadpool has gotten extremely popular lately, especially due to the exposure from his own movie. He's also no stranger to starring in fighting games, seeing as he also appeared in Marvel VS Capcom 3. I imagine his moveset in Soul Calibur would be based on his swords and kives, while his guns would be used for low-damage long range attacks. Plus, similar to MVC3, his super attacks could involve breaking the fourth wall by picking up the health bar and beating his opponent with it.

8. Dovahkiin (Skyrim)

Bethesda has been beating Skyrim like a dead horse recently, re-releasing it constantly since the original release of the game, so the main character of the game, the Dragonborn or Dovahkiin, is still relevant. I can imagine his play style having the ability to switch between a broadsword, short swords, and an axe, and his secondary attacks could be based on magic and shouts.

7. Genji (Overwatch)

The popular hero shooter Overwatch is mostly full of characters with ranged attacks and guns, though one character with a close-range weapon is Genji, a cyborg ninja with a laser-bladed katana. In Overwatch, he's a fast and powerful character, with both ranged and close up damage. This could be brought over to Soul Calibur with his throwing stars as ranged attacks, and using his sword and dash attacks to move quickly around the stage. He also has a deflecting move to block damage from long range attacks in the game. This would make him a nightmare for characters like Cervantes.

6. Marth or Roy (Fire Emblem)

This one would only work if the game was ported to the Switch as well as PS4 and XBox One as previously announced, since Fire Emblem is a Nintendo Exclusive game. Marth was the main character of the original Fire Emblem game, while Roy was the main character in the first Fire Emblem game to be released outside Japan, so both can be considered main characters of the series. Other characters from the series like Lucina, Chrom, or Corrin could also work, but I feel that March and Roy would be a better fit.

5. Jon Snow (Game of Thrones)

Fantasy plays a big role in the Soul series, and Game of Thrones, based on the Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R.R. Martin, is one of the biggest fantasy franchises on television right now. Jon Snow could be seen as the main character from the series, so I feel that he could be the best fit for the Soul series. While he doesn't have magic powers like some others in the series, I feel like it would be interesting to see a general realistic character fighting alongside such outlandish warriors.

4. Ruby Rose (RWBY)

I'm not a fan of the RWBY series, but I will admit that I find Ruby to be a cute and endearing character. Plus, I love her scythe weapon. I feel like she'd be an interesting character for the Soul Series. Like Deadpool, she has a gun to use as a projectile weapon, though she would mainly attack with her scythe. Plus, there's a lot of potential for alternate costumes.

3. Cloud and Sephiroth (Final Fantasy 7)

Final Fantasy 7 is arguably the most popular instalment of the Final Fantasy series, making Cloud and Sephiroth some of the most famous characters. Cloud was not only in Smash Bros', but also Final Fantasy Dissidia, and the Playstation fighting game Ehrgeiz, also published by Namco, so he's no stranger to fighting games. Sephiroth was also in Dissidia and Ehrgeiz. Like Darth Vader and Yoda from SC4, Cloud could be playable in the XBox One or PS4 version, while Sephiroth would be playable in the other.

2. Master Chief (Halo)

This character would obviously be exclusive to the XBox One version. Master Chief mostly uses various guns, but his energy sword weapon could work as his primary method of attack if he were included in the game. While Chief himself hasn't appeared in a fighting game before, a Spartan character resembling Chief was included in the Dead or Alive series. In this game, the character used hand-to-hand combat, so that could possibly work for Chief as well.

1. Bayonetta

There are many reasons for Bayonetta to be included in the game. For one, she was originally considered to be included in Soul Calibur 5 when it was in development, but Ezio was chosen instead. Also, she's no stranger to fighting games, appearing in Super Smash Bros and Anarchy Reigns. Not only that, but a third Bayonetta game was announced at the same time as Soul Calibur 6, meaning they would most likely release around the same time, so it would be prefect for cross promotion. Her fighting style would be based around her physical punch and kick attacks, along with the guns in her hands and on her feet. The only problem would be that her provocative nature would be hard to include in a T Rated game, though if Smash Bros was rated E 10+, I doubt it would be a problem if she was included.

So those were my picks for guest characters in Soul Calibur 6. What are your opinions on the game and what guest characters you'd like to see in it? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
