With Pokemon's 20th Anniversary this year, and a new Generation of Pokemon games on the way, I thought it would be cool to list my Top 10 Pokemon. However, seeing as there are over 700 Pokemon right now, I decided to narrow it down a touch. These are my Top 10 Legendary Pokemon. These include Mascot Legendaries, Legendary Trios, Pseudo-Legendaries, and Event Legendaries.

10: Mew

The one that started it all, Mew was the first major Legendary Pokemon in the game besides Mewtwo. Sure, you had the Legendary Birds in the game itself, but Mew was an actual legend. You couldn't even get him in the game, unless you glitched it. Mew was also the first Event Legendary. Plus, according to in-game legend, Mew created all Pokemon... except for Arceus, I guess.

9: Ho-oh

I feel like Ho-oh doesn't exactly get the recognition it deserves. Lugia got a movie and an edgy dark form in Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (on a side note, I'd love a sequel to that game), but Ho-oh really only got an appearance in the first episode of the anime, and nothing else. Also, that episode aired before Pokemon Gold and Silver were even a thing, so Ho-oh is the first gen 2 Pokemon to ever be released. In that case, I guess Ho-oh does get some recognition.

8: Zekrom

This was a close tie between Zekrom and Reshirom, the two Mascot Legendaries for Black and White. In the end I chose Zekrom, because I had the game with him in it. Another reason is that Zekrom just looks better aesthetically. He looks more like a Kaiju than a Pokemon (and if you've read my other stories, you know how much I love Kaiju). Both are pretty cool, and I feel that they don't really get a lot of recognition. Black and White were pretty good games for what they were, but I didn't really like Black 2 and White 2 that much.

7: Shaymin

Shaymin is cute. That's all I have to say. Shaymin is one of the cutest Pokemon ever introduced. It's a tiny little hedgehog with pink flowers on it. You really can't get cuter than that. I remember getting a plush Shaymin from Disneyworld a few years ago, but I'm not sure where it went. Shaymin's sky form is pretty cool too, but I like the land form better.

6: Rayquaza

Rayquaza's a giant badass flying snake god. While Kyogre and Groudon are the masters of sea and land, Rayquaza's the master of the skies. I don't really have much else to say about him, he's just awesome. I really like his Primal form from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire too.

5: Deoxys

I remember my first Pokemon movie was Destiny Deoxys. Ever since that, Deoxys was my favourite Pokemon. Then I actually played the game, and I gained some interest in other legendaries. But Deoxys always kept my interest. DNA, evolution, and alien life have always fascinated me. Deoxys represents all of that, which is why he's so cool to me. More recently, I was playing the Delta Episode from Alpha Sapphire, and I accidentally killed Deoxys while I was fighting it. I contemplated restarting the game from my previous save, but I remembered I had another Deoxys in Pokemon X, so I traded it over and pretended nothing ever happened.

4: Mewtwo

This is the only Pokemon on this list which is also on my personal Pokemon team. When I was young, catching Mewtwo was a right of passage. Ever since the original Red and Blue, if you could find and catch Mewtwo, you were considered the best. Now it's no big deal. I think I have 3, actually. Either way, Mewtwo was also featured in the first Pokemon movie, which is honestly the best one in the series. And do I even have to mention Smash Bros? Mewtwo was the first ever DLC character to be put in a Smash game, which is pretty cool. I just have one question though; why can't Mewtwo's armour from the movie be in the game?

3: Darkrai

Darkrai may not look like that much, but to the edgy kid I was back in the day, he was the coolest thing ever. A shadowy red and black demon with silver emo hair who eats dreams and causes nightmares? It was a Linkin Park fan's dream come true! I remember my friend had a Darkrai, and he took advantage of the fact that I never used items during battles by constantly putting my Pokemon to sleep, knowing I wouldn't use an awakening item. I was not a smart kid. But Darkrai's still pretty cool.

2: Arceus

Two words: Pokemon God. Not many people can say they literally defeated and captured the God of their universe and used it to fight other animals. Like I said, Arceus apparently created the world, which meant he created Mew. So if Arceus is God, does that make Mew Jesus or something? Then what does that make Mewtwo? Okay, I'm getting biblical now, let's just move on.

1: Giratina

I'm still not sure what Giratina is meant to represent. If I remember, he was banished by Arceus to the Distortion World because he was too powerful. So... I guess if Arceus is Pokemon God, that makes Giratina Pokemon Satan? Either way, I remember Platinum being my favourite out of all the Gen 4 games, even though I needed like 8 tutorials to get through the Distortion World. I actually bought the strategy guide and made notes and shit. I was the biggest noob.
