Worst to Best Pixar Movies

With the new movie Coco coming out soon, and a new trailer dropping for the Incredibles 2, I thought it would be fun to rank my favourite Pixar films from worst to best. The only one missing is Cars 3 because I haven't seen it yet.

Cars 2

Yeah this one is the worst. No contest. It's the worst one. Why did they make this a spy movie?

Monsters University

I didn't mind this movie as much as most critics, but I kinda feel like it would have done better as a miniseries or TV show on Disney XD or something. The message was good, and I'm sure a lot of people took it to heart. I certainly did.

The Good Dinosaur

I was really looking forward to this movie, but it was a little disappointing. It felt like it was just going through he motions rather than just being a movie. It certainly looked nice though, and the voice acting was really good too.

Brave

I actually quite liked Brave, but it didn't feel like a Pixar movie. It felt more like a Disney movie, and while Disney movies are usually good, it just didn't feel like Pixar quality. I still love Merida's design.

Cars

The best part about this movie was the soundtrack. I really liked Cars when it came out, but it really isn't a movie I'd come back to again and again like other Pixar movies. The character designs did look pretty good, especially for the fact that they're all vehicles.

Finding Dory

Pixar has a bit of a problem when it comes to sequels. They mostly just bank on nostalgia, which usually works. They kind of have to when the original movie came out a decade earlier. I really liked this movie, but it didn't feel like as big of an adventure as Finding Nemo. I've only seen it once, but I'd love to see it again.

Bug's Life

I love this movie, but it's not very memorable. I guess it's hard to follow up Toy Story, with this being the second ever Pixar film. The most interesting thing about this movie is the controversy between Pixar and Dreamworks when it came out. I'll probably talk about it later. Either way, the movie was good, but not one I'd really want to return to.

Toy Story

The one that started it all. I gotta show respect to the OG Pixar film, but looking back, it wasn't an amazing spectacle compared to today's standards. Back in the 90's it must've been the biggest and most impressive thing in the world, but nowadays... meh. Still a great movie though, and one that I return to a lot.

Ratatouille

I'll always have a soft spot for this one because I think Patton Oswald is so awesome. But other than that I still think this movie is great. The music, the scenery, the characters, and the ending is just perfect.

Toy Story 2

I used to watch this one constantly when I was a kid. Whenever someone brings up Tory Story, I usually think back to this one more than the original. Also I may or may not have had a crush on Jessie when I was younger...

Monsters Inc

This movie brings back memories... not all of them great. Mostly I remember being really scared of the trailer because I was like 3 years old and the monsters freaked me out. But then I saw the movie and it was amazing. I actually really like creature designs, and the creatures in this movie are awesome. They managed to make monsters who were both scary and child-friendly at the same time. I especially love how they wrote the workplace dynamic between the various monsters. Watching it again at an older age, I found a new appreciation for it.

Finding Nemo

I have fond memories of watching this movie constantly with my family. It really is a movie you have to watch with your loved ones. Despite the pretty heavy subject matter, they manage to put in a lot of great comedy, especially with Dory, who my mom and I both love. I especially love the scenes with the sharks and the turtles. The Tank Gang were also fantastic. The side characters really make this movie.

Toy Story 3

While I didn't cry at the end like most people, I did really like this movie. Like I said about Finding Dory, Pixar sequels bank a little too much on nostalgia, but this is basically Nostalgia: The Movie. Not just for the Toy Story series, but it banks on the nostalgia a lot of adults have for their own childhoods. Either way, it a fantastic film, and while I haven't seen it again, I definitely will soon.

Incredibles

I love superhero parodies, and this is an example of superhero parodies done right. It's like the Lego Batman movie in terms of being an amazing parody while also being a great movie itself. I love the universe they build up, and I love the heroes and villains they made up. I also love the way it looks like a comic book, and the family dynamic was fun too. The music is also fantastic.

Up

This movie managed to tell a better love story in the first 5 minutes than most movies can in 1 and a half hours. The rest of the movie is also really cute and funny. The character design is also really fantastic, and the storytelling is great too. I do wish the villain was a little more interesting, but other than that this movie is great.

Wall-E

I love this movie so much. It was really something different that Pixar hadn't really done yet. It was one of the first movie ideas the Pixar team came up with, along with Bug's Life and Monster's Inc. Most people seem to like the first half more than the second half, but I love the whole movie. Wall-E is adorable, Eve is great, the villain is super intimidating, and it has some legitimate social commentary that doesn't completely bash you over the head. The animation and writing is also fantastic, and it has some really great silent comedy.

Inside Out

I didn't expect to like this one as much as I did. But holy crap this movie was good. While the idea has been done time and time again and again, I feel like it was done especially well here. The character designs looked amazing, both on the humans and the emotions, and the voice acting was too good. Whenever someone brings up Pixar, I'm gonna be thinking of this movie for a long long time.

So that's my ranking of every Pixar movie. Do you agree? What's your favourite and least favourite Pixar movie? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
