Mapleshade's amber eyes opened. The space around her didn't look like it could belong to StarClan, nor did it look like it would be the Dark Forest. She stood up, confusion alight in her gaze. The amber-eyed she-cat  couldn't feel any pain from her wounds, but the sticky substance running through her fur made Mapleshade guess she was still bleeding.
"Mapleshade."
The voice was like a breeze, but Mapleshade could hear a hint of a familiar voice.
"Mapleshade."
The second time was the same, but a different voice spoke.
"Mapleshade."
The third voice spoke, again familiar but different from the rest. Mapleshade turned in circles, trying to find the sources of the voices. Three star-stricken cats stood before the calico. One was a black tom cat with dark blue eyes. The memory of him was sharp in the she-cat's mind.
"We deserve to know the truth Mapleshade. Appledusk is the father, isn't he?"
The second cat was a golden spotted she-cat with yellow eyes. The memory of the cat blazed through Mapleshade.
"You won't raise them alone!"
  "You betrayed my brother's name!"
The third pelt was pale brown with eyes of brilliant green. Mapleshade felt a bitter feeling rise within her.
"Be glad we've shown you some mercy."
The calico looked at the three cats. The three cats who had caused her trials and pain. The cats looked at her through eyes of icy calm. Ice spread through Mapleshade's system. How could they be so calm when they had caused her so much pain!
"You did wrong, Mapleshade, killing us," Ravenwing was the first to speak, her dark blue eyes icily calm.
The she-cat didn't respond, only flicking her tail. Her amber eyes blazed with pain and hatred.
"We understand you were angry about your kits, but that gave you no right to murder," Frecklewish spoke secondly, her tail flicking behind her.
Mapleshade bit back a retort. She needed to hear these cats out, no matter how much pain they'd caused her.
"We sent your kits back in hopes to know you're true care," Appledusk finished off, his ear flicking.
"You still went for your revenge, but you did stop at nothing to save them, and you offered yourself to death in the hopes they would keep them alive."
Mapleshade's ear flicked as she listened, her amber gaze curious. What were they getting at? Her thickfurred tail flicked behind her.
"So what does all this have to do with whatever this is?"she questioned.
"It's to help us decide whether you should go to StarClan or the Dark Forest. We'll give you some time here alone to wander and think," Ravenwing mewed, snorting as though he doubted she'd do it, "then we'll come back with our decision."
The three cats began to fade. Mapleshade opened her mouth to ask if her kits would live, but they were gone before she could.
"Alright. Isolation and wandering? Not too unfamiliar," she mumbled to herself.
