One cold morning, người chăn cừu nghèo (a poor shepherd) was grazing his gia súc (cattle) in một đồng cỏ (a pasture). He cũng không có đủ (neither had enough) clothes to wear nor even một đôi giày (a pair of shoes).

Suddenly, a man came there on a horse, tên thổ phỉ có tiếng (a famous dacoit). He nhảy xuống (dismounted), went to the shepherd and said, "Come and work with me. I will give you clothes and shoes. Ngươi sẽ không cần lo (You will not have to worry) even for your food."

At this the shepherd replied, "I am hài lòng (content) being a shepherd. Ít nhất (At least) I have peace of mind cái mà ông không có (which you don't have)."

Hearing this, the dacoit sửng sốt (got stunned) and immediately went to the police station and thú tội (surrendered).
