So the picture is horrible, I know.

But this is basically what I follow.

- Black: Main story line.
- Red: Descriptive senses/ chapters that make its way back to the main point.
-Green: Details that expand on chapter or story (ex. Characters backstory, extra senses that are there for no reason, etc.) Will also go back to the main point, just a bit slower.
- Blue: Details that go off track, but go straight back to the main point.

Now it's none of my business of how you write, that is up to you.

But I told a friend of mine this, and she was able to write her book just fine after that.

Because she wasn't afraid to go off track every once in a while.

And it's true. There's nothing wrong with that, I do it every once in a while when I'm writing.
