"So Cinder, what do you want to do today?" Kai asked while starring at the sheets of rain coming down from the palace window.

Behind him, Kai heard a bunch of clanging before he got a response. "I don't know Kai. I have to finish fixing this android before we do anything else, and after that... I have other stuff to do."

"Cinder can't you just blow off a day of work?" Kai asked coming closer to Cinder's work table. "It's a rainy day, we never get a day like this where we have nowhere to be. We could do something special."

"Kai we get plenty of rainy days here. Why is this one so special?" 

Kai shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe we could go visit Winter on Luna." 

Cinder shuddered. "No way! We're going to go visit get for her birthday next week, there's no need to go now, and come back, just to go there again in a few days. Plus I don't want to spend anymore time on that rock than I have to."

"Okay then. What should we do?"

"Stars Kai! Just tell me what you want to do, and we'll do it!"

"Well Cinder, do you know what today is?"

"January 23rd."

"Do you know what's on January 23rd?"

"Some holiday by the looks of it."

"Stars Cinder! Did you really forget?! You're breaking my heart here!"

Cinder finally looked up from her work. "What did I forget Kai?"

Kai bent down to kiss his wife. "Our five year anniversary."

Cinder smiled into their kiss. "Stars! How could I forget?!"

"Well I guess you just get busy being the empress and a mechanic." Kai smiled back.

"I guess. So what should we do?"

Kai pulled away and helped Cinder up to her feet. "Well I was thinking we could watch some of that second era anime, 'Sailor Moon' Cress suggested."

"That sounds nice, but knowing you what else do you have planned?"

"Well I was thinking, we could maybe cuddle in bed or let things get a little more intimate." Kai smirked and wiggled his eyebrows.

Cinder laughed and kissed Kai. "That sounds wonderful."

"So let's get started!" Kai said pulling her towards their bedroom. 

"I'm coming! Don't worry, it's not like I'm going to disappear."

"I know, but this reading day isn't going to last forever. As long as it's raining, the ball is cancelled."

"How come that didn't happen at our first ball?" Cinder laughed.

"Well I don't have an amazing wife named Cinder to spend the night with instead. I also didn't want to cancel it because I was waiting for a certain somebody to show up."

Cinder blushed. "I love you Kai!"

"And I love you Cinder." Kai said as he reached into kiss, and closed the door behind them.
