I was a leaf blowing threw the wind,
And the wind bruised me,
Hurt me,
Confused me.
The wind and I had been good friends,
But time turned a calm breeze to savage drafts.
I tried to run away,
But it swept me back up.
It asked me what it could hurt if I wasn't there.
I guess no one wasn't an option.
I flailed out to grasp something,
To reach anything.
And you reached back.
You pulled me in and examined me,
As I fell asleep in your arms.
Here was my bliss,
And here was my peace.
I must not have been worth keeping,
For after scrutinizing me,
You let me go,
And angrily shook me off as I tried to hold on.
So now I once again float along with the wind.
And I'm banged and bruised by its currents.
But looking back,
I see you grabbed another leaf.
And that hurts more.
