"I can't believe it's going to take a whole week to get there," Star whined.

"Not a whole week," Tom corrected, annoyed. "About four days. Five days max."

"That's too long! We might be too late!"

"Well, it's the best I can do, Star! If we could use your wand, it would be much easier..." Tom said irritably.

"Erm, in case you hadn't noticed, my wand is broken!" Star shouted, ringing her hands.

"Yeah, and who's fault is that?" Tom snapped.

"Not mine!" Star said, annoyed. "Toffee's! He was going to kill Marco. I had no choice."

"Hmm. I don't think I would've given up my magic for a human," muttered Tom.

"Well, I'm glad Marco means so much to you!" Star snarled. "And can you hurry up please?"

"I'm going as fast as I can," Tom said.

They were in the underworld; He was bending over a huge bubbling cauldron, a huge pit of fire beneath it. He was carefully making a potion which would send them straight to Marco. It would take a while to cook.

"Pass me that hoodie," he said, clicking his fingers at Star, who reluctantly gave Tom one of Marco's red hoodies (the potion required something of the lost person.). She felt a little bad about burning something of his, but if it found him, it was worth it. Tom dropped it into the cauldron with no hesitation. Star scowled at him.

"Have a little compassion, Tom, he might be dead," she said.

"I don't get why you're so into him," Tom muttered, stirring the potion and adding a sprinkle of sparkling powder. "I mean... He's just a human, what can he do?"

"It's not a question of his power," Star frowned. "He's a good person. He's kind and clever and always looking out for me. He would never leave me to die. He would look for me, so that's what we're going to do- and we're going to find him."

"There's a lot of this 'we'," Tom said.

"What, don't you want to find him too?"

"Hmm," Tom said.

He stood up.

"Right, I've got to do some dark magic now, so stand back."

"Dark magic?" Star asked fearfully.

"Yeah, I need it for the potion."

"Urg. Fine." Star turned her back. She didn't like seeing Tom release his inner demons.

When the fire and demonic screams had died down, she turned back to see the potion was now simmering happily.

"It's not like I don't care about him," Tom said suddenly. "It's just..."

"Just what?" Star asked, looking at him.

"Well... You're always super excited to spend time with him, and he's just... A human. I mean, I'm not only a shit hot demon, I'm also stinking rich, and I can always show you a good time, and do things with you that... That you wouldn't be able to do with Marco, because it's too dangerous, or... You can't afford it..."

"Tom, that's bullshit. I can have just as much fun with Marco as I can with you."

"Yeah, and that's what I don't understand," sighed Tom. "I guess... I'm just jealous... That you spend time with him all day, every day, and don't get sick of him. And you barely ever hang out with me, yet you always seem to want to be somewhere else when I'm with you."

"...Tom," Star said, feeling a little guilty. "I ...I do sometimes get tired of Marco-"

"Really?" Tom asked quickly.

"-yes, because we're so different. But I love hanging out with him. Me and you... We're not compatible. You know that, Tom. I love spending time with you, too, but... I don't think we're a good influence on each other. Marco- he's good for me. He keeps me grounded."

"Like fog at an airport," Tom muttered.

"Oh, come on Tom," Star grinned. "You can't hide it from me. I know you really like Marco."

"Whatever," Tom grumbled, getting up to get more ingredients.

"You do," Star said, jumping to her feet and rushing over to him, "you like Marco!"

"Shut up! I don't!" Tom whined. "I don't!"

"You loove him! Tom loves Marco!"

"Star!" Tom turned around and stood on Star's toes. "I don't love him. I like him a normal amount."

Star bellowed with laughter as Tom shoved her out of the way to the cauldron.

"Well, thanks for helping me out," she said finally. "I know I take the mickey, but I'm really glad you're here. I'm really grateful and yes, I do enjoy spending time with you. Thank you."

"You're welcome," Tom said grudgingly. "And I really do like Marco. I..." He sighed. "I really hope he's okay."

"Me too," Star whispered. "Me too."
