Sick, Part 2

Miko hated being sick. What was worse, was that it was a Saturday. She couldn't go to the base, Raf was out of town, and Jack and her host parents were working and none of them were able to text, so she didn't have company, either. She sneezed, grabbing a tissue and blowing her nose before carelessly throwing the tissue in the direction of the trash can. It landed near it, as did half a dozen other tissues. She wheezed a little as she sighed, before coughing, and falling into a coughing fit.

"Stupid cough medicine...good for nothing," she muttered weakly, lying back in her bed and pulling the covers up over her shoulders. She should be at the base, watching monster truck rallies with Bulkhead or something. Not spending her entire Saturday inside, stuck with nothing to do. She already drew so many pictures, her hand hurt and she didn't want to draw anything else. She looked at her phone and sighed. Jack said he'd come by later to give her some company, but he didn't exactly specify when. She was tempted to text him, but knew his boss wasn't very friendly when it came to phones on the job and she didn't want to accidentally get him in trouble. She moved on to a game she downloaded and played it until her phone alerted her of a low battery. She flipped her phone shut and sighed in boredom. It had been nearly an hour, wasn't Jack almost done?

She decided a nap of all things might help pass the time. There was nothing else to do now, anyway. She put an arm under her pillow and half-cuddled her pillow until she fell asleep.

A light tapping on her window disturbed her and she shifted a little. "Go away," she muttered into her pillow quietly. The tapping seemed to stop, but started again a few seconds later. It seemed hesitant, and she finally looked up. A grey blur was at her window, and she rubbed her eyes before slowly and groggily pulling back the sheets and walking over. She yawned as she checked the window, seeing that the grey blur was Jack. She smiled slightly and unlatched the window before opening it.

"Hey, you do realize we have this thing called a front door, right?" she asked, trying to stifle another yawn. She was still sort of asleep.

"Yeah, but apparently this thing called a "doorbell" doesn't work. I found out why." Jack smiled, noticing her tiredness. "I didn't realize you were asleep, I'm sorry. I should let you go back to-" he was stopped by Miko grabbing his sleeve.

"Jackson Darby, you are not leaving me here alone by myself on a Saturday afternoon," she replied seriously, before releasing an involuntary yawn. Jack chuckled and then yawned too.

"Okay," he complied. "Let me in through the front door then."

"Nah, I'm too lazy," she replied, resting her head on her arms as her arms rested on the windowsill. Jack gave her a look and raised an eyebrow, before shaking his head in amusement.

"Then I guess I'm crawling in."

"Yup."

"I-I was kidding, Miko."

"Well, I wasn't," she replied seriously, moving back to give him room. Jack blushed, but handed her a small grocery bag before jumping up and sitting on the sill, ducking his head and twisting around until his feet were in her room instead of outside, and he slid off the windowsill easily. He had never been in her room before, and aside from the unmade bed (which he assumed she was obviously using), and her favorite outfit draped over her desk chair (there weren't any undergarments visible-Jack was grateful for that), her room was pretty much neat. She had brown fluffy carpet, pink walls, and a slash monkey poster hung above her bed. On the adjacent wall were two pictures, one of two people, which he soon realized were her biological parents, and the next was of him, Miko, and Raf. He smiled to himself before looking over at Miko, who was watching him curiously. The bag that he had given to her was now on her bed.

"Okay. Now what?" he asked.

"Maybe you could tell me what's in the bag?" Miko replied, gesturing to it. Jack rubbed the back of his head.

"Uh, yeah...um, when I was sick last time, you sent me a small care package, which I was grateful for. I just thought I'd return the favor...and give you your medicine back. You're right, it really does work."

Miko smiled before coughing into the crook of her arm.

"Aw, thanks, Jack. I'd hug you right now, but, y'know," she replied.

"Yeah, thanks," Jack replied. The two stood there in an awkward silence for a few seconds before Jack extended his fist, and she looked at it before giving him a fistbump. It was the best they were going to be able to do for now.

"Thanks for coming to keep me company, Jack. It's been boring here without you."

"No problem, Miko. Really. Except for the part where I crawled into your window."

Miko laughed, and Jack gave her a look before he gave up and laughed with her.

~~~
I had inspiration, and so I did it. However, I've been trying to figure out how to end this, but I've decided it's fine right there, and to give you guys a summer challenge! (Especially for all you Jiko people *ahem*)
So, if you want, I feel like this oneshot isn't "over" yet. How would you end it? You can keep as little or as much of my actual oneshot as you'd like. You can write it in the comments, or if you want to publish it to one of your existing books you can. :> (I'll post this in the comments too so you can just copy and paste instead of retyping it all, though please don't just steal it.) Tag me if you do, I'd love to see what you guys come up with!
Thanks :>
