◇ Best Friends do that, right ?! ◇

It was a dark night, rain pouring, and away from the trolls village that we know so well. Somewhere, lost, was what seemed to be an empty, abandoned Bergen mini-golf course, surrounded in darkness, the walls protecting the creatures living there from the outside world.

The only lights were coming from the flickering electricity of different statues that composed the putt putt parkour, those who would let scary shadows appear on the walls surrounding the trolls' shelter. On top of everything, the sign where you could read "Hole O' Fun" was standing the best it could against the wild wind of the storm.

The sound of thunder echoed as the rain fell in sheets, soaked the ground, and made it muddy and slippery for any troll to walk out there safely. Everyone had the smart decision to hide in their houses, hiding from the danger.

Putt Putt trolls were amazing at hiding after all.

The upside down ice cream cone was probably the most solid of all the structures— inside of it was a troll, not any troll, the leader of the group of survivors. You would expect her to be brave, confident, not afraid of anything-

— but Viva was scared of thunderstorms.

It was one of the numerous that she was secretely scared of– even though she wouldn't admit it this easily. She was as well scared to open up about those fears that kept her like a prisoner in this place.

The sky roared again, making Viva pull her blankets above her head in her bed made out of a yellow, giant roller skate. She looked up at the ceilling and the little paper birds and stars hanging still, then the flash of light changed their figures into the shadows of scary looking monsters along the inside walls of the ice cream cone.

- Hh! She covered her eyes.

This was fine- she had just to breathe in and out- she could get through this ! It was just her imagination playing tricks on her, right?? She was safe- was she ? Yeah! No danger as long as—

KNOCK KNOCK !

Viva's magenta eyes opened again, scanning the room. It was silent for a few moments before the knock on her door was heard again.

With hesitation, she made her way to the window, tense as she checked who was there- once she saw him she quickly went to open the door for him- what was he doing here ?!

- Clay ?! She said, swinging the door open.

There he was, the co-ruler of the place in his typical green sweater romper and a blank expression on his face. Only the first thing she noticed was not the fact he was there in the middle of the night- but mostly his hair.

It was yellow.

The lime green he usually had on was gone, and the light blue skinned troll was standing there with his crazy hairstyle back to its original sunny yellow color. Viva couldn't back a snicker as she placed a hand to cover her mouth, she leaned in the door frame;

- Well well, looks like the hair dye couldn't hold on any longer ? She teased him.

The troll rolled his eyes, still standing under the crazy rain, feeling the unpleasant dye run down his back and forehead. He would certainly spend 3 hours in the shower after this.

- Oh don't remind me... The admin building got overflowed by the rain– he explained, gesturing to the small house he had choose years ago, Can I..... stay at your place ? He asked akwardly.

Without any word, she moved aside so he could walk in. The tall male troll made his way inside of the house, looking at the ceilling with a gentle smile.

Viva closed the door behind him and then went to look for some towels so Clay could wrap himself in them. He was shaking a bit from the cold rain, so he was glad that she offered them.

- Oh thanks Viva, he thanked her as she wrapped it around his shoulders, W-WOAH!

He got pulled inside by the pink troll, then forced to sit into the couch while Viva used a wet clothe to wash the green dye on his neck and forehead away gently. Clay felt so self-aware at the moment, he did not dared meet her gaze and just stared at his knees.

Clay and Viva were best friends and so, she knew him too well to not notice the akward expression on his features as she washed out the rain water out of his gorgeous golden main. She set the clothe aside and sat down next him, leaning foward with her chin resting on her palms, elbows on her knees. Her eyelashes brushed against her glitter freckles slowly with each blink.

- What's the matter? She asked him in a gentle voice.

She was rarely this calm, Clay just had this effect on her. They could be going around their trolls sanctury, screaming like maniacs and chasing each other, using their hair to turn into golf balls.

Then at night, after giving out all their energy at either playing or training, they would finish cuddled up in each other's arms snoring like two grossums in the middle of hibernation.

...Best friends do that, right?

Clay sighed, scratching the dry color on the back of his neck. He shrugged, he did not liked to talk about his past. He hardly ever spoke to her about it- all that she could recall from it was a little 8 year old with yellow hair trying to save her from a bergen when she actually was the one that had saved his butt that night–

- When I look at it, I think of them, he blurted, absent.

He grabbed a towel and rubbed his hair with energy to get more water out, and also avoid a conversation. Viva wasn't done with it;

- It remind you of "banana hair" ? She guessed.

Clay grumbled, gosh did he hated this- not the nickname, the reminder. He hated to think back of his big two brothers ruffling his hair and lovingly calling him this stupid nickname.

He cringed;

- You know well we ain't mentionning banana hair, he nudged her.

Viva giggled gently, until the thunder was heard again. She startled and scooted closer to him, shaking a bit. Her friend looked at her with confusion;

- ... Now is there something pineapple hair hasn't told me ? He smirked.

She glared at him playfully, she causually burried her face against his chest, which Clay wrapped his arm around her, she sighed, comforted and ready to talk about it with him;

- I... just... don't like the thunder, she told him in a murmur.

Clay gently pushed the hair out of the way to rest his chin on top of her head, again, very normal thing to do when you're best friends, right ? RIGHT ?!

- Why ? He asked, humming a song.

His fingers tapped a rythm on the couch along with the humming, Viva stopped him by grabbing his hand and started comparing the size of their hands, trying to think of something else but the thunder still roaring outside and the rain pouring. Clay eventually crossed their fingers together to hold into her hand, she snuggled closer. She really did liked cuddles with this troll.

- It reminds me of that night, she explained to him.

And he knew what she was talking about, she didn't need to explain it all over again if it was too much for her. Clay nuzzle his face into her hair, breathing in her perfume, trying to calm her down;

- Don't worry, he purred, Banana hair is gonna protect Pineapple hair, he chuckled silently in a silly voice.

- You're so stupid, she said in a playful-ish, loving tone.

- But I thought you liked it !! He recalled with a sad, very serious frown.

- Yeaaah, I do like youuuu, she giggled softly, adoring his wanting to be serious side as well.

She stayed in his arms, the following thunder in the sky didn't scared as much as it used to now that Clay was here.

-... I do like your hair whatever color it is, she told him gently.

- Thanks Viva, he hugged her tighter, Hey !! Wanna read the rest of "Watership Down" ?

- Yeah, Best Friends do that !

... right ?!
