ALLISE WATERS WAS born on the hottest day of the longest summer, where they say more sweat than blood was shed as Cersei Lannister, Queen and Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, gave birth to a tragedy in the den of the Red Keep. From the moment it was revealed the Lannister woman was pregnant, and that the father was not her husband, fate turned against her.

Growing up, Allise has been told exactly what she is, proctored and punished as the Queen's Bastard, raised to follow without question. Life in the Red Keep is not one of comfort, enduring the constant hardship that is her half-siblings, the sneers of her warrior uncle, and the respecting yet absent scowls of her grandfather. But if exclusion has taught Allise anything, it is how to blend in. Taking to her reading, Allise is the silent onlooker, keeping her words close and her thoughts even closer. To stay untouchable is the only way to live.

But what is best is not always what is desired.

Confiding in few, Allise watches and waits, for what she cannot be sure, but there is something in her, something burning where the rest has gone cold, a fragment inside Allise that longs to be the change, instead of only a witness to it. Peace hangs as precariously as a sword on string, and as fate winds tighter around the necks of the powerful, so does the noose Allise has been wearing her entire life.

i. i want to start off by saying that i am very new to the game of thrones fandom, so pls bear with me as i become more entrenched in the world. this book is going to be mostly based on the books, with some series changes made throughout, and obviously a completely original end bc i know how the show ended and it needs to happen.

ii. anywayyyysss, welcome to turn the tide!! this fic has been in the works for a while and i'm so excited to finally share it with you. turn the tide focuses on allise waters, the bastard daughter of cersei lannister (and perhaps something more) as she tries to weave her way through court politics, MAJOR plot twists, and playing the game of thrones. allise is such a fascinating character that i can't wait to explore!! she's solemn, anti-social, and prefers to keep to herself, but can't help being drawn into sparring debates and the machinations of the court. deep down she's drawn to the power of the iron throne, but at the same time understands how corrosive power can be. uggghhhh i love her so much AND her interactions with all the characters.

iii. allise is loosely based on kazi of brightmist from dance of thieves, clarice orsini from medici: the magnificent, crier from crier's war, jude duarte from the cruel prince, padmé amidala from star wars, patroclus from the song of achilles, and young!alicent hightower from house of the dragon (ep. 1).

iv. this book will not have a romance until very late in the fic, as this story will mainly focus on character growth (or lack thereof in some cases) and allise's place within the actual game of thrones. just like with any of my fics, family dynamics and platonic relationships will take centre stage in turn the tide, so if that isn't your cup of tea, no problem!! just try and be respectful of the boundaries within my writing.
