If one were to take an atom apart,
it would burst
and destroy most of the world.
To remove an essential portion
of nature's creation
is to weaken one's own self.
Fire and ice become one,
an admixture dangerous yet cautious,
freezing and flaming all at once.

Keep it together, however,
and one will live just fine --
the winter is cold just enough already,
one doesn't need to drive down
the thermostat, their trembling fingers
testing the tactile tabs.
It's best to let it remain.
The gas bill already skyrockets
every month,
entering orbit despite one's best efforts
to stay within the atmosphere.
One must cooperate,
or risk being thrown out
into that dark abyss.
