Santa Matrix

A Short Story Based on True Events

========================

Seriously. Who would be wearing a Santa Claus hat during P.E.?

Well, it all started when I was sitting down in the middle of the gym with the other students as P.E. class started. It was the second to the last subject before school was officially over and winter break had officially started.

"So class, since i'm in a good mood today and it's the last day before winter break, we're going to have little game of dodge ball," my teacher announced and everyone else started chattering excitedly.

"Get into a group of three and give yourselves numbers from 1, 2, or 3."

Anyways, there were three teams and I was stuck in a team of some decent people but from studying the other teams, there was one team where i'm sure we'd end up having bruises. The first team that we were facing though seemed to be the same level as me but I still had doubts as always.

"We're dead," I muttered.

"For once, I agree," the guy standing nearby nodded.

Well, he wasn't just any guy. His name will never be known so I should just call him Santa because he had been wearing a Santa Claus hat. Even though it was the last day of school before winter break, I never knew it was free-dress day but even so, I still wonder why he wore a Santa hat.

Not only that, 'Santa' and I had this on-going war of tag. Jennifer would play every once in a while. Anyways, we'll have to put that rivalry aside...for now.

The whistle blew and we all started running but I stayed back, not wanting to risk getting hit by the ball. I wasn't too bad in games like this. In fact, I was one of the fastest and I had hit a few people out and had catch a few balls. Skip all the details and in the end, we won.

As we started preparing to lose from such a power team, my guard was down and 'Santa' came up and tagged me.

"Oh no you didn't," I growled but not wanting to get into trouble, I saved it for later.

Once again, I muttered, "I'm sorry guys but now, we are really dead."

Well, apparently we won once more. Either we were highly skilled (which I doubt very much) or it we got lucky once more.

As the final seconds ticked off, one of the guys from the other team threw a ball at, 'Santa.' It was quite smooth as he tilted, the ball narrowly missing him.

"Lol, Santa Matrix. We got Santa Matrix on our side," I said.

As we started preparing for the next game, I got a dodge ball, threw it at 'Santa Matrix' and said, "Tag. Now you're it."

'Santa Matrix' glared at me but he probably didn't want to get into trouble so he didn't.

I then looked at the other team and yelled, "We got 'Santa Matrix' on our side."

"Yeah, I granted my team the Christmas curse," 'Santa Matrix' agreed.

"You mean a Christmas wish?" I asked, "Cause if this was a curse, we'd be losing."

We won that game but when the next game happened, the Christmas wish had indeed became a Christmas curse...unless it's just us getting tired. On the last game, our team had been split in half since it's the last game.

'Santa Matrix' was on the other team and I tried to get him out with no such luck. I caught the ball only to get hit by another one. *Sighs*

We lost but to me, we won since we won most of the games. I guess I have 'Santa Matrix' to thank for that...but i'm sure we just got lucky.
