Ugly Info Part 1: Something to Consider...

Alright, this is part 1 of a short "Ugly Info" series. Recently I've gotten curious about the original Uglydolls from the 2001 toyline and the comic books that came years later. From the moment I joined the Uglydolls fandom, there were always those few fans comparing the movie to the toyline and talking about how different they were. But I never really knew anything about the "other side" of our fandom, so to speak, except that Ox's personality was way different, and that Wage, Ice-Bat, and Wedgehead were men. So I've been looking up what I can. And I've decided to put up a few posts, just with some basic info for any other fans out there who are curious about the older characters, like I was.

Btw, I still haven't read the 4 comic book anthologies put out by Travis Nichols (Goin' Places, Shhhh!, Eat Dat!, and My Hero?, respectively) (again I say: yet (¬‿¬)), but I've seen reviews of the first three on youtube (that's where I got the screencaps that show up in previous chapters), and I have read the 4 "Ugly Guides" put out by David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim (those being Hi! It's The Uglydoll Ugly Guide to the Uglyverse, Hi! It's The Uglydoll Ugly Guide to Things That Go and Things That Should Go But Don't, Hi! It's The Uglydoll Ugly Guide to Being Alive and Staying That Way, and Hi! It's The Uglydoll Ugly Guide to Eating Out and Keeping It Down). There are other uglydoll books out there, like 123 4You, or Babo's Cookie Problem, or the first book David wrote, Chilly Chilly Ice Bat, but I've read none of them.

(Oh, and you don't have to worry that this is some sort of theme change. The characters we know and love from the movie are still my favorites ❤❤ And I'm still planning on plenty of content featuring them in the future. This fandom just wouldn't be the same without the pretty dolls! Or Lucky Bat! Or even the other characters as we know them, for that matter. That being said, am I gonna post content of the older canon beyond this info series? Who knows? Time will tell... (¬‿¬))

So I was prowling around the internet trying to find out what I could about those first few prototype dolls that Sun-Min Kim sewed in the early 2000s (more on them later (hopefully🤞^_^🤞)), and I found some interesting information that I thought was worth sharing. Something that may even effect our golden boy from the movie ( ͡• ͜ʖ ͡• ). The following quote was taken from The Uglydoll Wiki, concerning what happened to an ACTUAL prototype from the Uglydolls toyline.

(Btw, a picture of Picky is in the media ↑↑↑)

"Picky was amongst the earliest handmade Uglies, made by Sun-Min Kim, in 2003. There are actually TWO Pickies. One made an appearance in 2004 Uglydoll show, at the Giant Robot Gallery in Los Angeles, and was adopted by a fan. The second Picky (this is Lemonade Picky) appeared in 2004, at David and Sun-Min's toy booth, at a New York toy show. He was joined by his other handmade siblings, including one of his brothers, a Bishop twin. There are two Bishop twins, that look exactly like the Pickies, except they are a darker amber color. Lemonade Picky was not adopted in New York, so he was sent to San Francisco, to appear in a new gallery opening, in 2005. The gallery held a raffle, and raffle tickets were $2 each. Proceeds from the raffle, were donated to wildlife organizations, to help protect wildlife and the environment. He went to live in a nice home, surrounded by more Uglydoll siblings. Picky has no bio card or hang tag, because he is a handmade."

Based on this, I vote that instead of being trapped in the factory, Lou should be raffled away to a fan of the doll company at Comicon, since this is what actually happened to a real Uglydolls prototype.
