i really, really hate this classist bull thats against trade schools and blue collar work

why is working in maintenance or doing some "below" job that pays well looked down on. why are we goading kids with "you dont want to end up as a ditch digger"

like, whats this saying? we NEED people, as a society, to do these vital jobs and idiots out here thinking the only worthy occupation is a freaking doctor or engineer

every single day of my academic life ive had COLLEGE GO TO COLLEGE YOULL DIE OTHERWISE crammed down my throat except by one man that inspired me very much. he sat us down and told us that a four year degree isnt 100% necessary and doesnt guarantee you a job

ive stopped even telling people i want to go to trade school. its no point. i get some speech that im "wasting my potential" (DO NOT TELL ME THIS EVER OK) and need to attend some bullcrap university that MIGHT get me a job 20 years later after im up to my nose in debt.

personally, ive never been interested in higher education. i want to go into maintenance, and im more interested in learning a trade, not three years of useless classes before i even get to my major.

so hey guys, let's stop shaming these careers and schools. it has a use. we need these people, ok?
