Chapter 40:

It was the time of the evening, people were decorating a venue with lights and flowers. A man kept the carpet on the floor and rolls it open. People were doing their work fastly. A board was kept on the floor by the wall and Avni and Neil's sangeet was written on that.

One month had passed, Avni was much better now so they decided the marriage date. In this one month, Avni and Ashish did not talk and things were like before. Avni spend her time mostly in her room and start going to the office to change her mind though Avni and Neil argued about that, but at last, Neil understood that she is doing this to avoid the family drama so he agreed with her but asked her to be careful and take care of herself.

Arnav and Aman were checking the arrangements. Arnav saw Avni's manager and goes to him.

Arnav: all the arrangements are done?

Manager: yes Sir, ma'am instruct the team and is checking every single side. All is going well.

Arnav: ok but check all the arrangements again. There should be no flaws it is Event planner Avni Mehta's sangeet function.

Manager: we know Sir, don't worry you will not get any chance to complain.

They heard the footsteps and Arnav turns he saw Avni is coming. Aman also comes to them to see Avni.

Arnav: what are you doing here? You should be at home today is your sangeet.

Avni: relax Bhai, I will get ready on time. I just came to check the arrangements. I don't want to give any chance to Maddy Bua to taunt me.

Aman: whatever you do, she will taunt you. It is her work.

Avni: yes, Teri kharus saas.

Arnav smiles.

Aman: really and yours?

Avni: she is a sweetheart. She called me her daughter, not like your Hitler mother-in-law.

Arnav: ok enough of it now stop.

Avni looks around and saw the decorations.

Avni: what is that?

Manager and all look at the area where Avni was pointing.

Manager: ma'am flowers.

Avni: really! Thank you for informing me I didn't know that. There is one flower of a different colour. Why yellow flower is there? and that pot, it should be there, not here what are you doing?

Manager: ma'am I did not see that flower. I am sorry. I am asking the man to change it.

Aman: Di, ab sab ki nazar Avni Mehta ki tarha sharp nahi ho sakti na.

Avni: Teri saas ki hai na.

Aman makes a face and Arnav smiles.

Arnav: Avni, it is a minor flaw no one will notice it.

Avni: no Bhai, it is not a small thing. It is a question of my credibility. I can't take it lightly. I want everything perfect.

Arnav: ok.

Avni goes to check every corner and made the changes when she was satisfied then she sighs deeply to see that and smiles.

Arnav: now everything is done you go and get ready; guests will come after some time.

Avni nods and goes.

Later, the Khanna family was standing in the venue and Arnav was present there. The Mehta family had arrived and Neil's eyes were finding Avni. She comes and Neil's lost to see her.

Avni looks at him and gets nervous. Neil smiles and Avni took the blessing from the Khanna family and Neil from the Mehta family. They smile to see each other. Shweta hugs Avni.

Shweta: looking beautiful.

Avni smiles. Neil was looking at her.

All sit on the couch. Avneil sits on the stage there were two stages.

Neil whispers to Avni's ear.

Neil: looking gorgeous.

Avni blushes and feels ticklish in her stomach. Neil smiles to see her.

The function had started and the couple dances one by one. Ashish did not participate in the dance but goes to the stage and Neela maa dances around him. Avni looks down and Neil keeps the hand on Avni's hand she looks at him. Neil blinks his eyes. Avni nods.

Both families perform one by one. Ladies versus Gents. Avneil were enjoying it.

Aye dil tu laya hai bahar. Avni's childhood videos were playing she gets emotional to see Ashish and her bond. Ashish wipes his eyes. Avni saw Riya and her fight with the cushion and they were jumping on the bed, they throws cushions at each other. There were some pictures also. In one picture, Avni and Riya both were standing by touching their head and making two ponies and were making their cheek chubby. Neil smiles to see her picture. In one picture Avni and Riya were pulling each other hair, in one picture, Avni was sitting on the Riya and showing her arm that she won. Avni smiles with teary eyes and wipes her eyes.

Mehta family took her to the stage and showers their love on her and all dances with her like Arnav turns her, Neela maa holds her arm from behind and kissed her temple. Sonia turns by holding Avni's arm and Aman did a couples dance with her. Arav bends on his knees and gives her a bouquet. Avni makes an aww face and takes that. She sits and kisses his cheek and hugs him. Neil smiles to see that.

All claps for them. Avni smiles to see her family and then she looks at Neil who shows thumbs up because he knew that she has mixed emotions. Avni smiles.

Later, Neil was sitting in his room and thinking about Avni.

Neil in mind: Avni and her sister's bond was very strong. Avni loves her a lot. Don't know how Avni handled herself that time how difficult it was for her. She is really very strong, in that situation also her mind worked and she saved Aman with such perfection that no one got doubted. She is really very strong. Even more than my imagination.

Neil thinks.

Neil: I just wish that things will get like before between her and Ashish papa.

Neil sighs.

On the other side, Avni was looking at the album and cherishing her memories. She touched the pictures and recalled her past.

The next day, the Khanna house was decorated with yellow curtains beautifully.

Neil comes in a white kurta and yellow vest.

Shweta: o my, my. See Bebe our Tillu is looking so handsome.

All smile. Neil smiles.

Bebe: yes.

Bebe signs perfect. Neil smiles.

Shweta: sit.

Neil nods and sits. All apply turmeric paste on his face, arms and feet. Neil was smiling. Shweta dramatically takes the evil eyes away from him. Neil smiles.

In Mehta house, Avni was sitting in front of the mirror and sets her scarf. Avni takes the hairs at her back from the shoulder.

Neela maa comes and keeps the hands on her shoulder he kissed her head. Avni smiles.

Avni: my daughter is looking so beautiful. God protect you from evil eyes.

Avni smiles.

Sonia comes.

Sonia: what are mother, daughter talking about.

Nm: nothing. I just came to take her.

They smile.

In the living area, Avni was sitting.

All were applying turmeric paste on her face, arms and legs. They give her blessings, kiss her forehead and cheek. Avni smiles. Arnav and Aman were looking at her from the distance and wiping their tears. Arnav side hugs Aman.

Aman: how we live without her?

Arnav smiles sadly.

Arnav: come and shower your love on her. She needs us now.

They come and also applied turmeric paste on Avni's face. Avni smiles. Arav also applied and Avni kisses his cheek and rubs her cheek with his cheek. All smiles.
