Chapter 7: Foraged in Flames

The camp was pretty busy today. Despite how cold it was outside, the warmth from the new forage helped fight off the frostbite on everyone's paws and tails.

The twins watched as the Dwarf hammered away at a peice of metal, a strange pair of goggles on his head as he lifted the hammer and brought it down with a mighty "clang!" sound.

Kiran and Svalinn's eyes were wide with interest as they huddled near each other, their heads barely peeking over the small hammering station the Dwarf made for himself. François and Asbrand watched their trainees closely, taking interest as well in whatever the Dwarf was making.

With careful and skilled movement, Flint took the metal with a strange pair of tongs, picking it up and shoving the metal into a deep pocket of snow. A sizzling noise was meet as the hot iron cooled.

"Not as good as water, but good enough for now. Now, let's see what we got," Flint stated, before taking the tongs and pulled the iron from out of the snow.

Out came the now quickly hardening metal, long and pointy, shining with small devits from the hammer. From the Valkyrie's tree, murmurs of approvement could be heard.

Quartz's eyes lit up, as did Sylvie's, looking at the blade with awe. Flint placed the blade onto the hammering station again, using a rock as a stepping stool.

"With a little bit of polish and refine ment, I'd say this blade would be fit for the Gods of War, Tyr and Thor when I'm done with it. I can make a whole stash of them if I really wanted," Flint proclaimed, his chest puffed with pride.

"Then why don't you?" asked Krian, ears perking up as spoke.

Flint gave a small groan. "I don't have enough materials. Iron isn't as abundant in Migard as it is in Svartalfheim, neither is the material I really need to finish the job with this blade. For now, these will just have to do... until I can find something else..."

"Something else like...?" Quartz asked. Flint looked to her, before shaking his head.

"Something like uh... oh! Bird spittle, or the color of the air, maybe even the taste of water. Those would help me finish a whole armory of stashes!"

A short few seconds of silence fell, most of the Godlings glancing at one another to try and figure out what the Dwarf was talking about.

Flint noticed the strange looks some of the cats gave him, which he quick fixed himself, his fur bunching up slightly. "None of you know about that, right... eh, I guess something a special stone might do them. Something unique, something rare, something like-"

"A Rune?"

The cats turned to the one who spoke, seeing a still depressed Keahi sitting in the snow. His eyes were dull and his fur looked a bit ruffled. He had been stuck in camp for who knows how many days until Eir and Estrid's care now for his depression of learning the truth of Baldur's death.

Flint took a moment, before nodding. "A Rune... sounds powerful, it should work. Alright, if any of you wish to have armor of weapons built for you, just give me some Runes and I'll fix you up whatever you'd like."

A loud booming voice was heard announcing Fimbulwinter has arrived. A discussion chain will be place for everyone to discuss what this means and what to do.

A strange bright beam of light is coming from across the valley. Yrsa, Argent, and Valor have been chosen to go and investigate.

Kara is back in Camp with a Dwarf by the name of Flint. They both have settled in nicely. Flint said to give him a few days to set up his forage and he'll make special equipment for everyone!

Rota is visiting the camp! As a greeting, she has offered to help hunt and gather supplies with others. She will randomly join patrols from time to time to help.

There is now an Activity Chain!
