Chapter 8: Valkyrie Queen

The sky was covered in thick clouds after Gunnr lead the dawn patrol back to camp. The wind was blowing hard like usual, the cold nipping at everyone's paws and ears.

François would cast disgruntled looks towards Atreus, the younger tom's head held low, the wind tossing their fur to and frow. Why did they have to bring him back? They were fine without him!

Lunmir stayed close to François, choosing for the black tom to be on the side with his bad eye, feeling at ease know his friend would protect him if someone where to jump out that François would warn him.

When they arrived at camp, young Svalinn and Kiran could seen awe at the newest member of the pack. Nix's surviving kitten, Aureus, was taking his first steps, his mother watching him carefully as he reached the Nursery edge.

Kiran gently padded the snow. "C'mon, you got this! One big leap!" she encouraged. Aureus smiled brightly, giggling as he brought his tiny paws under him before jumping. The snow was almost as tall as him, making him sink into a fluffy, white, chilly hole just his size. A tiny high pitch squeal could be heard as the kitten poked his head out.

"Cold! It's cold!" He squeaked loudly. Nix reached down, picking him up and bring him to her paws. White flakes stuck to his fur, his fluffy fur shivering from the snow.

"I think that is enough exploring for today. Come now, let's warm you up," Nix said in a loving tone, taking the young tom-kit to get warm in their nest.

François neared the young mollies, smiling politely to them. "Hello, Svalinn, Kiran, up early, aren't you?" He said, looking to his Trainee before continuing, "Since you're up, would you like to train some?"

Kiran smiled widely, nodding her head excitedly. "Yes, please!"

"Alright, then go get a bite to eat, then meet me at the entrance of camp, today we can-"

From the Valkyrie's look out tree, a sharp yowl was heard. "Queen Sigrun!"

The voice belonged to Rota, the Valkyrie of Justice quickly jumping off the branch, her black wings flapping open as she flew upwards. All eyes turned to see what she said was true.

In the sky, a cat with golden eagle wings flew closer to the camp. Rota met her halfway, the two hovering in the air, before dropping down to land.

Sigrun landed in the snow, her wings opened for a moment, before settling by her side. Rota looked at her, staring at her for few seconds.

From the Healer's Den, Eir ran out, eager to see her friend. "Sigrun! You're okay!"

François came to join the group of cats that started to surround the Valkyrie Queen. Sigrun looked behind towards Eir. The gray molly threw her wings over her queen in a greetings. Sigrun gave a hiss, throwing her wings open, baring her teeth at Eir as she whipped around.

Eir jumped back, her ears tucked down. "Sigrun?"

Sigrun's eyes widen, withdrawing her wings and shaking her head. "Eir! I'm so sorry, you just scared me. Are you okay?"

Eir nodded slowly. "Just... surprised. What happened, Sigrun?" she asked, her soft voice being a tiny bit above a whisper.

Gunnr stepped forward. "Queen Sigrun, you made it out."

Sigrun looked at her, her fur and feather laid flat, making her seem more sleek then she was. "Yes... no thanks to you," she said, her tail flicking. The surrounding Valkyries looked confused, before looking to Gunnr, who stood there, shocked.

"Sigrun, you told me to leave, you told me to come get the Children and make sure they're okay," Gunnr countered. Sigrun gave a growl, narrowing her eyes.

"You shouldn't say such lies, you left your queen!" Sigrun snapped. Eir at the two, before coming between them, opening her wings.

"Easy, you two. Sigrun, you must have flown a long way to get here, why don't you-"

"Queen Sigrun. Address me by my title," Sigrun stated. Eir looked at her, her wings faltering for a moment.

"Right, sorry, my Queen. Go get some rest, we'll discuss all of this later," Eir said. Sigrun didn't say anything else, before turning, walking off.

She pushed her way through the crowd, François couldn't help but notice the smell of old blood on the Queen. He noticed she held them a bit differently, like she was hurt or something.

Estrid gently slipped beside him. "You smell blood too?"

François nodded his head. "Yeah... glad I'm not the only one."

A loud booming voice was heard announcing Fimbulwinter has arrived. A discussion chain will be place for everyone to discuss what this means and what to do.

Valor, Yrsa, and Argent have returned to camp, and with them, Atreus has returned as well.

Kara is back in Camp with a Dwarf by the name of Flint. They both have settled in nicely.

Rota is visiting the camp! As a greeting, she has offered to help hunt and gather supplies with others. She will randomly join patrols from time to time to help.

Sigrun is back in Camp.

There is now an Activity Chain!

Sorry for the long hiatus everyone, I explained it in the Discord Server, but a close friend of mine and admins has been sick for a very, very long time. We were spending as much time as we could with him, he is still with us, but the doctors have said this is going to be his last few months with us officially starting now. He isn't going to get better, there is nothing we can do now except hope making these last few days, weeks, or months he has left happy memories. We have been hit hard by this, so we pushed Valkyries to the side for a while to spend time with him. This update is meant to explain what was happening and to give everyone another moon I know everyone has been waiting for. Thank you all for your patience, you all are so incredibly and me and the admin team can't thank you enough.
