Chapter 8: Valkyrie Queen

"Estrid,  make sure to cover the herbs!" Eir's voice carried through the chilly air outside of the Healer's Den. The Valkyrie stood in the den entrance, her long fur being blown in the snow.

An early morning storm had brought in a fierce blizzard, the cats in camp were quickly gathering as much supplies as they could. Gunnr and the others cats with thick pelts were trying to save what food they could from being buried in the snow.

Rota and Kara were busy packing as much snow as they could in front of den entrances, hoping to trap what bit of warmth they could inside the dens.

Those who couldn't do much against such cold weather huddled into one another, a giant pile of fur blending into one another. Kiran and Svalinn were huddled as much as they could to each other, the sisters shivering, the young Aureus huddled between them as Nix tried to block as much wind as she could with her body.

Eir turned to look to Gunnr, her Valkyrie sister looking back to her. "Where is Sigrun and the dawn patrol!"

Gunnr shook her head, her fur flattering against her as she stood her ground. "I don't know! Keep Estrid and the herbs alive, we'll go looking after this blizzard settles!"

Eir gave a brisk nod, before quickly moving inside of the Healer's Den. She packed snow until it was as tall at her, sealing her and Estrid in the best she could.

It was noticeably a bit more warm inside, the den was tightly woven and strong, though the wings outside them howl as it went by.

Estrid looked up, having curled up in her nest, covering what herbs she could save with a layer of moss. Eir came over, and laid down beside her. She covered Estrid with her wing, holding her close.

"We'll be okay," Eir said, her voice slightly shaky from the cold. She didn't want to worry Estrid about her slightly frostbit paws or wingtips.

"What about the others, will they be okay?" Estrid said quickly, huddling as best as she could beside the gray molly.

Eir gave a small nod. "As long as we all stay warm, we'll be okay."

A blizzard is blow outside! Seek shelter! Cats that go out on patrols have a 50% chance of getting lost in the snow and 50% to gain hypothermia. A randomly rolled amount of herbs and prey will go bad. Be sure to stay warm using the command /huddle with... (cat). The more cats that huddle, the warmer everyone will be!
