The sun hadn't risen yet, but a caravan walked through the land, people, wooden carts, animals, and other belongings with them. Some guards were keeping guard and keeping the people safe as they traveled. In the front, Brynhild and Ragnar led the people; Sophia was behind them. She couldn't forget that Brynhild called her people and told them of the situation after their conversation. She ordered that everyone pack their belongings within the hour and that they were to leave immediately. Everyone was confused; some were reluctant but had to do what their leader commanded.

Everyone knew about Itzvar and Frode and that they were outnumbered. Everyone got what was important to them, and they went off with Brynhild and Ragnar's leadership. It was decided that the people would go to Golm's city to help them fight off Itzvar and Frode. The caravan traveled until the night, when everyone rested. However, they had to keep moving before the sun rose; they couldn't afford to be attacked.

Sophia looked behind her and saw that many people looked tired, and she couldn't blame them. She was about to turn ahead when she noticed a couple who looked to be in their early twenties. The young woman held an infant in her arms; she looked exhausted, and her skin was pale. Sophia commanded her horse to go toward the couple; Brynhild and Ragnar noticed and watched what she was about to do.

The young couple stopped as they saw Sophia beside them. "Forgive me, but I noticed that the young woman and her state." She got off the horse. "May I take a look at her?"

The young woman didn't respond while the young man motioned her forward. "Yes, this is my wife, and she has given birth six days ago but has been unwell since then. I do not own a horse or anything else."

Sophia touched the young woman and felt she had a fever; her skin was sweaty and pale. "There is a possibility that your wife may have contracted some infection. Please, you both take my horse; I will carry your child. Your wife doesn't look as if she's strong enough to carry your child. Once we arrive in the city, I will examine your wife." The man was grateful and assisted. He got a hold of his son and handed him to Sophia while he helped his wife on the horse; he also got on it. Sophia looked at the infant in her arms. "Is the child a boy or a girl?"

"It is a boy; his name is Eric Anundsson. Forgive me; I am also Eric; my son is named after me. This is my wife Elda; she and I married two years ago." They kept on speaking to one another while traveling with the caravan.

Meanwhile, Brynhild and Ragnar saw everything unfold. Brynhild was surprised by Sophia's kindness; she offered them her horse. "That woman has a way with words but also speaks more with her actions."

"Her name is Sophia, Lady Brynhild. Yes, Sophia is a kind woman, but she is also strong. While I was being captive, she fought against Itzvar. She took beatings and death threats; she also helped me escape."

"Well, that is surprising. It seems there is more to her than meets the eye." Brynhild looked at the skies and saw the sun slowly rising. "If I may, Lord Ragnar. I know the death of your son hurt you and Lagertha, but I wonder if Sophia was another main reason why she divorced you." Ragnar was silent; Brynhild shook her head while chuckling. "I am not here to judge, Lord Ragnar. I know that Lagertha has always been jealous; she never held the high confidence she once had when she first married you."

Ragnar did not answer as he and the caravan walked down a slight hill. "We will almost arrive; it might take another two hours."

Sophia felt her legs and feet getting tired but knew they would arrive soon. She looked at the infant in her arms. He looked like his mother; he had his mother's dark blonde hair. His skin was light, and his cheeks were pale pink and chubby. "He is such a sight to see. I feel like he will look a lot like his mother."

Eric smiled while looking at his sleeping son. "I believe so; I also hope he has his mother's intelligence." The two laughed.

Sophia was busy looking at the infant but cringed when she heard a swift-like sound from the couple. To her confusion, the infant had blood drips on his fur blanket and hair. She looked up, and her eyes widened. "AAAAAHHHHH!"

Everyone heard her screams and saw the sight. They saw Eric and Elda with an arrow pierced into their chests. Elda's eyes were motionless as blood dripped from her lips. Eric's eyes widened as the arrow pierced his heart. However, with the last bit of strength, he wrapped his arms around his deceased wife. Eric then looked at Sophia. "P...Please, m...my son...." The couple then fell to the ground before Sophia. Eric still held his arm around his wife.

Brynhild and Ragnar's eyes widened. "We are under attack! Raise your weapons!" Ragnar commanded his horse to go to Sophia, who still had Eric in her arms; her eyes were emotionless while looking at the dead couple. She did not realize that more arrows had landed toward the caravan.

Screams echoed around her. The infant, Eric, slowly opened his light brown eyes and began to cry, getting Sopha out of her trance-like state. That was when she realized that they were under attack.
