I wanted to scream. I couldn't control anything I was doing. After being detached for almost a week, everything I'd done to build a relationship with my father had been destroyed by the mind control. I loathed Samantha for what she'd done, but I couldn't regain enough control to do anything about it.

I didn't attend school, which made Peter worried. I answered his texts, though, making excuses for myself. Finally, he insisted on visiting me, just what I'd been hoping for.

"Kate?!" Peter shouted out worriedly.

"Up here Peter!" I shouted back.

Peter climbed the stairs and entered my room with a small knock. He could tell something was up. He walked in, then looked me over.

"What?" I asked, walking towards him seductively. I didn't know what Samantha had in mind, but I knew it wasn't good.

"She's got you," he said. "Doesn't she?"

"What do you mean?"

Peter closed the gap between us, whispering in my ear. "Kate, how do I break it?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, Peter," I said, nuzzling his face with my nose. "I'm just glad we're back together."

Peter backed up, out of my arms. "No, this is Sydney, not Katelyn."

"For gosh sakes, Peter, it's Samantha," I growled. "Get out of here, alright? I thought you came to make amends, I thought we were together again, but no, so get out."

"Kate, I know you're in there. I know how it feels. Please, if anyone can break this, it's you. Just give me a clue."

"Peter, you're treading on dangerous ground," I said, conjuring a weapon. "Get out now before I hurt you."

Peter stood firm, which made my heart flutter. He really did love me. "You asked for it," I growled, attacking him.

He slung some webs at me, restraining me, making my sorcery dissipate. He then sighed a bit. "Sorry, Kate," he said, then pushed me hard onto the floor, making my head hit. I blacked out.

When I woke again, I was slumped on a couch. I immediately stood, seeing Peter and Tony standing above me. "Kate?" Peter asked as he looked to me. I growled and lunged at him, but Tony pulled me off him, pinning my arms behind my back. I tried to get free, but he was too strong. "Peter, help me get her downstairs," he said, Peter getting up and grabbing my legs as Tony restrained and carried my torso. I tried to kick at Peter, but he was very strong and held me in place.

I was carried downstairs and restrained to a table. I growled and used all my strength, but I couldn't break free. Peter walked over to me, sighing and running a hand through my hair. "Kate, please, you're stronger than this. Where is it? How is she controlling you?"

I laughed. "It doesn't matter. The deed has been done." Wait, what did I mean by that!?

"I don't know what you're talking about, but you're stronger than she is. Please, Kate!"

Tony sighed. "It won't help, Peter. I know you think she's that strong, but this seems very high tech. FRIDAY, have you finished the scans?"

"Yes, sir. There seems to be a considerably small foreign device on her neck, hidden under the jawline," a robotic voice rang out to answer Tony.

Tony walked over, tipping my head to the side to locate the device. I was quite happy about it, finally able to be free. Tony pulled the device off me, making my vision go dark.

When I woke again, I woke with a start. I was still restrained to the table, Peter sitting beside me. His hand was placed gently in mine. I looked over to him, sadness overtaking me. Tears filled my eyes and I looked away from him.

"Kate?" He asked, turning my head so he could see. "Is it you?"

"Peter, I'm so sorry..." I whispered. "I love you... I love you..."

He leaned down and kissed my cheek. "I love you too, Katelyn."

"Can you please take these off?" I asked, rattling the restraints.

That's when Tony walked over. "Kate, I'm gonna ask you a few questions, alright?"

"Okay," I said.

"Remember The disc I gave you? What does it do?"

"You throw it like a frisbee and it shocks people. Like I did to the guy on the Empire State Building. I still carry it on my belt when I wear my robes, just like I carry my sling ring."

"Alright, good enough. Pete, help me get these off her," he said, each of them taking the restraints off me.

I sat up on the table with a sigh, looking at Tony gratefully. "Thanks, Mr. Stark..." I said. Suddenly, my phone vibrated violently in my pocket. I pulled it out to find a call from my father coming through. I answered immediately. "Dad?" I asked desperately.

"Katelyn, I love you," he said.

"Dad? Dad, where are you?"

"Just... Please, do you love me?"

"What, I... Of course I do!" I exclaimed, putting the phone on speaker. Tony grabbed it from me, plugging it in to FRIDAY, whispering to his computer to trace the signal.

"Please, say it for me."

"Dad, what's going on? Where are you?"

"Katelyn, say it."

"I- I love you, dad," I said, tears flowing from my eyes. "What's going on?"

"She's taken me. She's going to kill me. Just- please, Kate. Please tell me you really mean it."

"I do!" I exclaimed, my voice breaking. "I mean, it daddy, I really do! She had me under mind control, I just wanted to tell you the whole time! It wasn't real, just like it wasn't for Peter! Please, you have to believe me! I love you!" I sobbed, Peter pulling me to him. I sobbed into his shoulder.

"I believe you, Kate," he said back calmly. "I love you."

"I love you too, dad... Please don't leave me..."

"I have to, baby girl..."

"No!" I choked, remembering my mom calling me the same thing in her last moments. "Please, please not like mom!"

He gave a shaky breath. "Kate, I have so much I want to say to you. I'm sorry I didn't get to see you grow up. I'm sorry we've only been together for half a year, but it's been the best six months of my life. Please don't let this change you. I love you baby girl. I love you."

"He's going to feel what my mother felt. A slow, painful death. He'll be dead within the hour. Sorry, 'baby girl'," Samantha mocked. That's when the line went silent, a dial tone sounding afterwards.

I fell into Peter's arms, collapsing onto my knees on the ground. He fell to his knees in front of me, pulling me in and holding me close as I clung to him. I sobbed uncontrollably, everything inside me shattering.

"FRIDAY!" Tony commanded.

"A warehouse, twenty minutes from here," FRIDAY replied, giving the address.

"Alright, Kate?" He asked, kneeling down beside us. "Come on, we've got to go. Let's go save your dad," he said gently, but commanding. He helped me up, wiping my face quickly with his thumbs, then throwing my sweatshirt on me, which shifted back into my cloak. It wrapped around my shoulders as Tony and Peter suited up. We set out a short time later, Tony and I flying together and Peter slinging his way toward my father's location.
