━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

𝗟𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. The Nott family understood that better than a lot of the people they knew. Being a pure blood family, they didn't see many people around them show emotion. So when the Nott family lost the person who held them together, also known as Astoria Nott, they really didn't know how to feel. They were saddened by the loss of their loved one but they never cried and they never really showed emotion towards the tragedy. The two Nott children, Theodore and Cassiopeia, had witnessed the murder of their mother. The two had simply been in shock at the sight in front of them and pushed the emotion deep down inside them as they stood their frozen in fear. Death was truly a horrible thing and if you asked Cassiopeia Nott what happened that night, she would be able to tell you every detail about what happened and when it happened. Her mind playing the event where she lost her mother on repeat.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Cassiopeia had never enjoyed the thought of hogwarts. The place was made to look legendary and fantastic, making the children dream of attending the school. Yet all it did was plague Cassiopeia's mind with terror. An old classmate of her mother and father had broke into their home just two years prior and killed their mother. Ever since, the girl had dread the thought of having to attend that school, which was bound to give everyone there trauma and grief. Cassiopeia had always really dreaded attending the school, she hated the fact that a hat was going to decide where she would be staying for the next 7 years of her life.

"Cassie hurry up," Theo, or Theodore, called from two stories down, breaking Cassie out of her thoughts about how much she hated that school

"bloody- we have hours until we need to be there, calm down," she yelled back, hating the fact that she was being rushed

"you don't need your entire bedroom, peia" her father yelled, joining in on the bickering between the two siblings

Cassie just rolled her eyes as she returned to packing her trunk. It wasn't like she was bringing a lot, it was just she was packing slowly so she didn't have to go. Hogwarts truly would ruin her life and a little blonde git wouldn't be helping that. She finished packing up her trunk and just as she did, two house elf's ran into the room and grabbed her belongings, carrying them down the flights of stairs for her. The Nott manor wasn't exactly as big as the malfoys, but the flights up stairs to get up to Cassie and Theo's connecting bedrooms was a workout by itself.

"finally, you take forever," Theodore pushed hee forward playfully as they traveled to king cross station

"Father, please don't make me go, there's muggles there. Muggles! I can't be around them, I'll have gray hair my the end of the term!" The young brunette ranted, truly hating the thought of being around the people she hated most

"we've talked about this peia, you have to go , now if you still don't like it next year, we can talk about a different option," Adrien Nott told his daughter, knowing that he couldn't force her to stay there after everything she's seen and witnessed. He wouldn't force her to do something she didn't like again.

"now go get on the train before it leaves," he gently pushed his children toward the wall that led to the hogwarts express

"goodbye father," the twins said quietly as they ran through the wall to the platform

As they made it through, the only thing they could see was children running around. Cassie had to hide her disgust as she stared at the different age groups all around her. The teenagers were reuniting with their friends from the year prior and the younger children were hiding alone by themselves, only a few of them actually looking around for possible new friends. It made her sick thinking about how open they were about their lives, how trusting they were.

"let's go find Draco," Theodore said as dragged Cassie along behind him

"I'm not sitting with him," the young brunette snapped, not wanting to sit with someone who thought he was better than everyone else. he mort certainly wasn't better than her or her friends.

"who are you going to sit with then? we all know you don't have any friends," Theo commented, causing anger to rise in the small girl

"go sit with that bloody wanker," Cassie replied, not feeling like wasting her energy on Theo or Draco

She turned around and quickly made her way towards the train. She wasn't sure who she would sit with considering her brother had been correct. All of the people she had considered her friends were only friends with her because of her brother, so she was ultimately left alone in the department of friends. She wandered around for a few moments, looking to find anyone she knew from her father and mothers dinners they had years prior, but she couldn't find anyone. Cassie sighed as she found an empty compartment and took a seat inside of it. After a few moments, the door swung open and two teens rushed inside, hiding from the group of older wizards that had chased them around for sitting in the compartment that was considered "their compartment only"

"bloody- I am so sorry, we can leave if you would like," a brunette with bright brown eyes rushed out, panic still filling her after being chased by the older wizards

"you can sit if you would like," Cassie told them, feeling lonely and needing someone to talk to

"are you sure? I, I mean, we wouldn't want to intrude," the girl said quietly and softly

"I'm sure, I need someone to talk to anyway. I'm Cassie, Cassie Nott," Cassie wasn't one to shake hands or hug so she simply just sat there as she introduced herself to the two kids in front of her

"I'm evianna and this is my brother, Elias, but you can call us vivi and Eli," the girl smiled brightly at the girl she considered to be her new friend, even if they were complete opposites of each other

"nice to meet you, are you guys purebloods?" Cassie asked before instantly regretting it. She hated that she always asked that question first when meeting someone new

"um no actually, we're halfblood, that doesn't change anything does it?" Eli replied, knowing that purebloods normally only liked purebloods

"It doesn't change anything for me, I could truly careless if you aren't a pureblood. I just can't stand muggles most of the time, not after what happened to my mother," Cassie answered, and she could tell the twins in front of her were going to ask what she meant by that but before they could, the train pulled to a stop and they were led out onto the boats that would take them to hogwarts.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup," Professor McGonagall told the large group of first years, before she sees a scared boy jumping forward to try and grab his missing toad.

"Trevor!" The boy yells as he catches his missing road, McGonagall staring down at him as some of the students laugh, including Cassie who thought the boy was ridiculous for his actions.

"Sorry," he muttered before backing away, completely embarrassed with himself

"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily," Professor Mcgonagall informed the children before leaving to go into the great hall.

"It's true then, what they're saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts," Draco's voice broke up the whispering of the other first years, all of them now looking at the two boys who were staring at each other,

"This is Crabbe and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy...Draco Malfoy," Draco smiled as he introduced his group of friends, although his smile dropped when he heard ron Weasley snickering behind him

"Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair, and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley. You'll soon find that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. Don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there," Draco snapped at the red haired boy, causing Cassie to smile just a little bit. She never liked the weasleys that much.

"I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks," Harry told the boy in front of him, shocking Cassie and a few other students around her. No one had ever turned down the opportunity to be Draco's friend, other than Cassie that was.

"We're ready for you now. Follow me," Professor Mcgonagall told the children as she led them into the great hall

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

"Will you wait along here, please? Now, before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words," Professor Mcgonagall told the first years as they came to a stop in the great hall

"I have a few start of term notices I wish to announce. The first years please note that the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also, our caretaker, Mr. Filch has asked me to remind you that the 3rd floor corridor on the right hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you," The older man told the group, although most of the first years weren't focused on him, they were focused on a white haired boy staring directly at the brunette girl that was standing next to him, their hands a little bit closer than Cassie liked.

"When I call your name, you will come forth, I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses. Hermione Granger," Professor Mcgonagall called and the bushy haired girl nervously walked up to the chair.

"Ah, right then...hmm...right. Gryffindor!!" The sorting hat shouted as a bright smile appeared on the girls face as she jumped up and walked over to the Gryffindor table.

"Sage Harding" Professor Mcgonagall called next and everyone stared at the dark haired girl as she walked up to the chair

"Clever....wit unrivaled...innovative beyond your years....ravenclaw!" The hat yelled as the girl smiled and walked over to the table, being smiled at by the older ravenclaws as she walked by.

"Elias Hendrix," was the next name called to be chosen and before the boy walked up, Cassie and evianna patted his shoulders, smiling towards him as he nervously walked up to the chair

"cunning...witty...hmm yes perfect...slytherin!!" The hat yelled and Eli's heart dropped, terror written on his face as he shakily stood up and wandered over to the slytherin table, taking a seat next to a bright blonde haired girl

"Evianna Hendrix" as her name was called, she gave Cassie a light smile before waking up to the chair, Cassie giving a good luck look before the hat was placed on evianna's head

"let's see....sweet...caring...genuine...perfect...Hufflepuff!" The hat yelled and Cassie began cheering along with everyone else, being louder than most of them as she watched her new friend walk over to her houses table.

"Rebekah Kennedy"

"selfless and loving...although snarky....this seems right....hufflepuff!" The hat yelled as the girl, who was equally as shocked as everyone else, stood up and walked over to sit with the other new hufflepuffs

"Stefan lightwood"

"kind...organized...responsible....slytherin!" The hat yelled, shocking the boy who was sitting in the chair. He wasn't expecting slithering but he wasn't upset by it as he rushed over and took a random seat at the slytherin table

"Draco Malfoy"

"slytherin" the hat called before it even landed on his head, shocking tons of the first years as the bright haired boy smirked and walked confidently over to his friends and Mona lovegood

"Cassiopeia Nott" Professor Mcgonagall called, causing Cassie to walk up to the seat and just as she was about to sit, the choice was yelled

"Slytherin" Cassie smiled at the choice as she wandered over to where Elias was sitting, taking a seat next to him and rubbing her hand along his, trying to stop the on coming panic attack

Cassie hadn't been looking forward to her first year prior to the sorting but seeing as she was with her friends and had her brother, she was starting to actually kind of enjoy it there.
