Here's my entry for part two PenName_Camilla

Heronpaw sat still as she enjoyed the feeling of a gentle breeze softly ruffling her white fur in the midday green-leaf heat. She watched the sunlight flickering between wavering branches of an old tree, spotting the ground with familiar warmth.

Feeling soft vibrations in the ground, Heronpaw wasn't surprised to see her brother emerge from behind her. His white pelt was dappled with black, green eyes staring into her blue ones. Heronpaw never understood why most cats in her Clan often stomped when approaching her, but she appreciated it. Being surprised wasn't something she enjoyed.

The black and white tom flicked his ear, then gestured with his tail for her to follow as he walked away. Heronpaw stood, turning around and doing as she was told.

Her brother looked around before heading out the dirtplace tunnel, and the white she-cat followed after him, though confused at his actions. Heronpaw kept looking around as they walked. Is something happening? Why did we leave camp? Are we training?

The tom suddenly came to a stop, leaving Heronpaw more confused than before. She stepped up to his side, and his expression was one of guilt and sadness. Heronpaw didn't know what was going on, what had happened, but still, she didn't like this, not one bit. Pressing up against the tom's side, she felt him shivering.

His mouth moved, and he shook his head, stepping away from his sister. Quickly, he regained his composure, dropping into a hunter's crouch and giving a questioning look to the other apprentice. Heronpaw nodded eagerly, and started sniffing the area.

Forest scents flooded into her nose. The sweet smell of tree sap, mixed with the scents of various flowers, along with the stale smell of soil. But best of all, prey.

Haronpaw narrowed it down to a single scent; finch. Padding towards it, she kept a careful eye on her surroundings, until the small bird came into sight. Pecking at the ground, it had no knowledge of her, and the apprentice used this opportunity to creep closer. Her paw landed on a dry leaf, and the finch rapidly flapped its wings, taking flight. Heronpaw jumped, but she just wasn't fast enough.

She stared at the escaping prey in confusion. She couldn't understand why this always happened, it hadn't seen her, had it? It was facing away.

Feeling small vibrations in the ground again, Heronpaw turned to face her brother, who had a dead squirrel in his mouth. She purred to praise him, tail high in the air.

He dropped the squirrel on the ground, nudging it towards Heronpaw. She tilted her head, unsure of what to do. Their mentors never let them eat outside of camp, so she assumed it wasn't allowed.

Her brother rolled his eyes, before leaning down and taking a bite of the squirrel, before nudging it towards her again. I guess it is okay then... Heronpaw thought to herself, now taking a bite as well. The two cats shared the squirrel until it was stripped clean, then the tom buried it, cleaning up like any usual meal.

Heronpaw began licking her paws, and was startled by her brother nudging her shoulder. She met his gaze with a questioning glance, seeing he held a sad expression once again. Without warning, he nuzzled her, and though shocked, she returned it.

The tom stepped away and gestured Heronpaw to follow once more. Padding on the soft grass behind him, he kept walking, and soon, Heronpaw realized where they were going; to the edge of the territory, where the border met unclaimed land.

Heronpaw slowed, an uneasy feeling creeping up her spine. Why would they be coming here? Now matter how hard she thought, Heronpaw couldn't come up with a reason.

Her brother noticed her decrease in speed, and looked back at her, gesturing again with his tail. He must have a good reason. Heronpaw took a breath and sped up once more.

There they were, at the edge of the territory, looking out into land that no Clan cat had explored. The tom was shaking, appearing stricken with guilt. His mouth moved once again, and before Heronpaw could react, a large, scarred tabby jumped out from the bushes.

Heronpaw opened her eyes in an unfamiliar forest. For the first time, she heard birds chirping.
