The rich scents of late Greenleaf surround Featherdawn as she left the den the next morning. The sun beat down relentlessly against the hot forest. Streams were drying alarmingly fast and the river was shrinking rapidly. The fresh-kill pile was full of prey. Featherdawn leaned down and picked up a plump, mouthwatering, vole and settled down to eat. A small patter of paws came behind her and she drew in the cats scent. "Hello Willowkit." She mewed.
"How did you know it was me?" Squeaked the little tortoiseshell kit trotting out from behind her.
"I couldn't see you, but I couldn't still smell you." Featherdawn mewed through a bite of mouse.
"Wow." Willowkit breathed, plomping down next to her. "I want to be just like you. Fierce. Loyal. Not afraid of anything."
"Oh little Willowkit." Featherdawn mewed kindly. "Everyone is afraid sometimes. You should just be you."
Willowkit looked at her with side amber eyes. "You think being me is good enough?"
"It's more than good enough." Featherdawn promised. "Want some?" She offered, pushing the vole towards Willowkit.
Willowkit took a bite, but still looked deep in thought. "Can you be my mentor when I become an apprentice?"
"Stormstar will decide." Featherdawn told her.
"Will he chose you?"
"I don't know." Featherdawn mewed. Lowering her voice to a cheeky level she whispered, "but you could always request it."
Willowkit looked at her with big eyes. "Really?"
"Of course, Stormstar would listen."
"Wow." Willowkit sighed. "Can you tell me the story of your adventure?"
"Featherdawn! Your coming down to the lake with us!" Foxshade called.
"I am?" Featherdawn was surprised, she hadn't been expecting to join the patrol of cats who were going to start planning the fight.
"Yes. Stormstar requested you specifically." Foxshade mewed. "We're leaving as soon as Gingerheart joins us."
"Wow! Great!" Featherdawn sprang to her paws. "The story will have to wait for another day." She mewed to Willowkit as she hurried over to Foxshade and his patrol. Sandfur was there, along with Nightcloud, Flamestripe, Mousenose and Thorntail. Featherdawn joined them nervously, she was easily the youngest here. Foxshade twitched his tail and left the camp. The patrol raced after him through the dry, hot forest. She fell into step beside Mousenose, her old mentors sister. "You excited Featherdawn?" Mousenose asked.
"Yeah, I didn't expect to be allowed to join." Featherdawn admitted.
"Your the prophecy cat. Of course Stormstar would pick you."
"Yeah, well." Featherdawn shrugged.
"Nervous?"
"No." Featherdawn replied, feeling slightly indignant.
"Good." Mousenose replied, before picking up the pace to run with Flamestripe. At Foxshade's signal they slowed and peeked into the Three Stones. MapleClan was already there, looking slightly nervous as though they weren't sure what they were doing. SunClan and RockClan had yet to arrive.

The patrol of OakClan cats trouped down to join the MapleClan ones who were already there. Featherdawn scanned the group for Dewpaw and realized with a jolt she wasn't there. Leafflare the new deputy nodded respectfully to Foxshade who nodded back.

Featherdawn tried to identify the MapleClan cats as she waited with her clan for the rest of the clans to join them. There was a musculare white tom, by the name of Iceheart, a thin dark grey she cat, Nightwind? Was that her name?  Featherdawn couldn't remember. Her eyes fell on a nervous looking she cat with leopard like spots covering her pale yellow fur. I've seen her at a gathering before.

Her observations were interrupted as Frostbranch and a small group of SunClan cats spilled into the clearing. She instantly spotted Sparkpaw's vibrantly orange pelt among them and felt relief spill to the very tip of her tail. He was standing close to a grey tom with icy blue eyes that sent chills down Featherdawn's spine.

"Hey, Sparkpaw!" Featherdawn padded towards him, he met her eyes and Featherdawn though she saw a flicker of discomfort in his amber eyes.

"Hi Featherdawn." He mumbled. "And I'm Sparklight now by the way."

"Cool!" Featherdawn exclaimed brightly, "It suits you."

"So is this one of the prophecy cats?" The grey tom spoke for the first time. His voice was quiet, but full of authority.

"Yeah, Featherdawn." Sparklight mewed. "That's my dad, Sparrowflight."

"Nice to meet you." said Featherdawn awkwardly. They were thankfully interrupted by the arrival of Frozenriver and the RockClan cats.

Another shiver of relief spread through Featherdawn as her sharp eyes picked out Ravenstrike's dark black pelt.  She also saw, with a stab of dismay, that Dewdrop was with them too. Oh no. She though So is Spottedfur. Spottedfur was her adopted mother who had cared for her during the time she spent with RockClan. Ravenstrike had told her how heartbroken and betrayed she had felt when she found out Featherdawn was of OakClan. Featherdawn hadn't seen her since then, apart from at a distance during a gathering once.

"Ok! Cats of all clans welcome to the training program." Foxshade yowled. "If you are here you and cats from the other clans will be working together to create a training program to then train the rest of the clans. If you are here you probably specialize in something and you will be partially in charge. Shall we?"

"There are four sections" Frozenriver meowed. "Fighting, planning our attack, survival/getting stronger, and tracking/sneaking. We have all pick one or two cats from our clan who will be in charge of each section."

"We will start with planning." Leafflare mewed. "Leopardspots will be from MapleClan."

The small leopard pelted cat Featherdawn had seen earlier stepped forward and walked to one side.

"Sandfur and Nightcloud from OakClan."

They joined Leopardspots.

Sparrowflight and Ivythorn from SunClan." Sparklight's father and a dark grey she cat joined the others.

"And Rivertail and Spottedfur from RockClan. Now for fighting!" Frozenriver announced. "Brackenclaw from RockClan."

"Iceheart from MapleClan."

The musculare white tom from earlier stood up.

"Cinderweb from SunClan."

A dark grey tom with a scar cutting across his face joined them.

"And Featherdawn from OakClan."

A shiver of surprise went through the crowd. Featherdawn stood stock still, shocked to the very tips of her whiskers. Me?
