Ashenstorm is a tall and well muscled tom cat, with fluffy dark grey fur that looks like falling ash in the light. He has tufts on his ears and a fluffy tail, with more feathered ends to his fur. The tom cat has a broad chest and shoulders with long claws that lightly poke out of their sheathe. His eyes are of a dark amber color that almost appear orange, and he has a dark grey nose, almost black.

Ashenstorm is seen as a very courageous and honorable warrior, who is dedicated to his clan and is loyal to the core. However, that is how most perceive him. Ashenstorm is ambitious and has dark intentions to one day overthrow his clan and his leader, Lavenderstar, wanting to have power for himself. The tom is intelligent and cunning, and has no intention of being any sort of good at the heart. Manipulative and sharp-tongued, he may just be one of the more dangerous cats in the forest, despite his younger age.

Ashenstorm was born to Witheredlark, a ShadowClan tom, and Suneye, a ShadowClan nursery queen. The tom never really had much of a father figure in Witheredlark, and his mother was unusually harsh to him at times, making him feel shut out. Ashenstorm's sister, Finchpaw, was seen as the golden child, and many thought she had leadership qualities. Ashenstorm felt as if he lived in his sister's shadow, and soon became a trainee of the Dark Forest. He trained hard and came out of the shadows, yet still felt like cats viewed his sister in a higher light than him. The day before they became warriors, Ashenstorm murdered his sister in cold blood and covered up the murder. The Clan was devastated, but life went on. Ashenstorm became a warrior, and after a major battle in which he saved Lavenderstar's life, he became the well respected warrior he always wanted to be, with his own apprentice. But Ashenstorm wanted more than that now, and had his eyes on his own prize.
