As moons passed, Enderheart began to spend more time with the new apprentices. Four moons had passed and the apprentices had become warriors. Brightpaw had become Brightmist, Twistedpaw had become Twistedflight, Rainpaw had become Rainheart, and Oakpaw had become Oakfang. Enderheart had grown quite close to the former rogues, and hung out with them every chance she got. She even had a little crush on Twistedflight. She thought he looked absolutely handsome with his jagged stripes, strong looking muzzle, and glaring yellow eyes.

It was a chilly afternoon in the camp. Enderheart swished her tail restlessly as she waited for the hunting patrol to return. Deerstar had sent one composing of nine cats, in hope that hunting in a large group would be easier than a small patrol. The leafbare seasons were always hard, but with the twolegs still cutting down trees at the edge of their territory, there was even less hunting ground than last season.

Enderheart perked her ears as she heard a rustle from the entrance. Toadeye padded out first, looking weary. There was nothing in his jaws. The same followed for Brittleleap and Iceglow. The Darkspots came in with a limp mouse in his jaws. Shimmerlake followed after a few heartbeats. She had a scrawny pigeon in her jaws. Enderheart got up and bounded towards Shimmerlake. "Congratulations Shimmerlake!" Shimmerlake's eyes glowed in pride.

"Thanks Enderheart!" She purred over the pigeon's wing. She trotted over to the fresh kill pile with Darkspots and set down their prey.

Enderheart watched as Brightmist lead Snakebite and Cardinalcall out of the elders den. She grabbed the pigeon off the prey pile. "Come on Cardinalcall. You, Snakebite, and Sparkwhisker can eat this. The other queens can share this mouse and the vole from last night. " Cardinalcall took one long look at the pigeon and sighed. "No. Leave it. The warriors and the queens need it more." Snakebite nodded. "We're not worth feeding anymore."

Brightmist's gaze widened. "No! You need it too! You are worth feeding! You wisdom is very respected and needed here in the clan! Besides, you did you part as warriors when you were younger!" Snakebite bared his teeth at Brightmist. "You think we elders can't go without prey for a day? Back in my days before you were born youngster, our clan went without food for a week! But we didn't just die, no!" Brightmist looked flustered so Enderheart went over. "We know," She soothed. "But we need you in the clan. Besides, Stormswift can just send out another patrol! A scrap of pigeon for you isn't going to starve a queen!"

Snakebite squinted at Enderheart and Brightmist suspiciously and snorted. "Fine. Me and Cardinalcall will eat it just to get you to stop pestering us!" He grabbed the pigeon and walked back to the den with Cardinalcall right behind him.

"Remember to share it with Sparkwhisker!" called Brightmist.

Brightmist heaved a sigh as soon as Snakebite was out of earshot. "Thanks for the help Enderheart! I didn't think I could get them to eat on my own!"

Enderpaw purred in amusement. "No problem." She cast a glance at the fresh kill pile which was now composed of just a mouse and a scrappy vole. "We better go and hunt again..." She said. Brightmist frowned. She cast a glance back at Twistedflight who was sitting under the highrock, once again surveying the clan through narrowed eyes.

Brightmist looked back at Enderheart. "Ok but we bring Twistedflight, Rainheart, and Oakfang."

Enderheart gave her a look. Why did she want to bring all the former rogues? She shrugged off the thought. That wasn't important right now. What was important was feeding the clan. It made sense to bring fresh warriors who weren't tired. She nodded at Brightmist. "All right. Go gather them up."

Once all the warriors were gathered, Brightmist took the lead and loped out of the clearing.

As Enderheart ran alongside Brightmist, she noticed that Brightmist wasn't headed towards the usual hunting grounds. Instead, they were headed towards the twoleg treecut place. She picked up her pace until she was right beside Brightmist.

"Uhh... Brightmist?" She mewed uncertainly. "This is the way to the twoleg treecut place. Not the hunting grounds. We need to turn back."

Brightmist turned her head to face Enderheart. "Oh I know alright." she mewed just as they reached the treecut place. "We didn't come here to hunt." She stopped and faced Enderheart. "We can to talk. To ask for your help." There was a hint of warning in her voice. She flicked her tail tip three times.

Enderheart looked behind her and began to panic. All of the other rogues were circling her. There was no escape. She snarled at Brightmist. "What do you want?"

Twistedflight's voice sounded behind her and she turned to face the handsome warrior. He sneered at Enderheart. "Let me be straight with you. We want to kill your entire clan."

Enderheart's heart nearly stopped at that. With a yowl, she leaped at Twistedflight, her claws stretched out to rip out his throat. "TRAITOR!" She screeched. Twistedflight stepped out of the way and gestured to the former rogues as Enderheart landed heavily on the forest floor. Three pairs of claws and paws pressed onto her limbs and muzzle forced her to stop trying to rise up. She glared at Twistedflight. Twistedflight lowered his muzzle so that he was eye to eye with Enderheart. "Let me tell you why." He looked up. "Brightmist's parents were murdered by your silly little clan. Why you ask? Because they caught a old shrew near the woods. It wasn't even in your silly little so called territory. It was right on the edge. But your clan was bloodthirsty and took out their throats without a second thought. They didn't even bury their bodies. Left them out to rot." Enderheart's eyes widened. She had heard something exactly like that from the elders. They had said that Foxfire and Glowfang had killed two rogues for being on their territory and for catching a shrew. They had completely ripped out their throats and didn't bother with burying their bodies. While Deerstar had scolded them about it, she didn't want anything to do with the bodies either.

Twistedflight continued. "And Rainheart's brother? He caught greencough from one of your clan cats and it killed him. He was near the old ditch you kept your sick cats a few season ago and he caught it. Even when your clan isn't physically touching us, we pay for being near you." He growled angrily. "You and your sick clan."

Enderheart whimpered. "Was Rainheart's brother a white cat with gray patches and a torn ear?" She whispered. Twistedflight nodded.

Enderheart almost threw up in disgust. Pearlmuzzle had found a white and gray patched cat with a torn ear a few tail lengths away from that ditch.

He then pointed to Oakfang. "His mother was also killed by a clan cat. They were chasing her away from the border, across the Thunderpath, threatening her that they would find and kill her kits if she ever came back onto their land. She didn't notice the monster and got hit. Her death was painful and slow."

Enderheart looked up at Twistedflight when he didn't continue. "What about your parents? And kin?"

Twistedflight shrugged. "My parents hated me. I have no idea why. I left them a long time ago. I was part of a clan. I didn't feel like I belonged. So I left. I still blame my parents for shunning me and bullying me because I was different than my clan."

Enderheart sucked in a breath. She had heard the elders gossiping when she was a young kit. Something about that poor kit leaving because his parents were abusing him.

"A-are you parents Ebonypelt and Pheasantfur?" She stammered. Twistedflight nodded gravely.

"But Ebonypelt was one of the cats who help you escort you to our camp. She didn't say anything." stammered Enderheart.

Twistedflight dug his claws into the ground and closed his eyes, the expression on his face twisted and sad. "She or my so called father didn't recognise me."

Enderheart thought about it. She had absolutely no idea that their clan was so cruel. And just because other cats were strangers. She remembered Rainheart's brother. His poor rotten ears and paw pads. She hadn't ever seen him before even when she was sick greencough. Enderheart started to grow angry. She suddenly hated her clan. For being so cruel to other cats. Just because they were different. She wanted to murder them all. All of them. Her sisters, her mother, her leader. And she was going to help the former rogues to do just that. She understood their plan. Infiltrate the clan and find a clan cat with a healthy status in the clan and get them to help them kill off Stormclan.

Twistedflight must have seen a change in her eyes and with that he signalled to his friends. "She understands. Let her up."

The former rogues let go of her and Enderheart stood up, and shook dust off her pelt. She bared her teeth. "I will help you kill everyone in Stormclan. They do not deserve to live. I will not rest until everyone of them is dead."

Twistedflight purred. "I knew you would understand." He padded forward and twined his tail with hers and rubbed his muzzle on her cheek. Enderheart purred back. Twistedflight finally broke away and looked Enderheart in the eye. "Enderheart, I love you. I had my eyes set on you the moment I saw you. I saw courage and spirit and the urge to do what is right and what you believe. Will you be my mate?"

Enderheart purred. "Of course." She touched noses with him and look back at the other former rogues, who's gazes were all sparking with amusement. Twistedflight waved his tail. "Come on. If we are to earn the utter trust of Stormclan, we must do all of our duties. We need to bring them back prey." He lead the way deeper into the treecut area. Finally, he stopped at a spruce stump and started to scrabble at the hard packed dirt. Brightmist joined in. The others including Enderheart stood back and watched. Soon after a bit of digging, they managed to uncover a plump rabbit. Enderheart was astonished. "Where did you get that rabbit?" She asked, her eyes wide. Oakfang flicked his ears. "We dragged from its burrow. It had a bunch of grasses stored in its burrow. Must of been living off those for the winter."

Enderheart helped drag the rabbit out and carry it back to the camp.

(Cat in picture is Brightmist)
