Back with another special POV! : ) Echospring is the SunClan medicine cat, if anyone was wondering.

~

After the incident at the Gathering, Echospring and the other medicine cats became more worried. StarClan had sent no sign of what the rogues were planning or what the Clans could do to fight the rogues off.

Fortunately, the Clans outnumbered the rogues, so the possibility of the Clans winning was high.

Echospring decided to start preparing right away as her stocks of marigold and dock were running low. She considered asking for horsetail from Grasswind as horsetail was abundant in BrambleClan territory, and decided to ask the BrambleClan medicine cat next half moon.

The SunClan medicine cat left camp. Nearly all the warriors were busy with battle preparations: some were making traps, others were doing some extra training.

Echospring headed to the usual place where she get dock leaves. As she gently nipped the stem to harvest the leaves, she heard a crack.

She looked around the moor. There was no sign of any cat wandering around, except for a patrol near the camp.

Echospring frowned and quickly gathered the dock leaves. As she was preparing to leave, she spotted some marigold growing near the Twoleg farm.

Should I get it? Echospring wondered.

It was dangerous to go near any Twoleg places as there were cases of loners - some even Clan cats - being taken by Twolegs.

I don't see any Twolegs, she thought. It should be safe for me to go.

Echospring padded towards the patch of marigold, walking through bright green grass that covered the moor.

The sun was getting brighter as she neared the marigold. Experienced in collecting herbs, Echospring took as much marigold as she could carry and headed back to camp.

A stray chicken stumbled in front of her, clucking cheerfully. Echospring ignored the potential piece of prey and continued walking.

Suddenly, there was a short brust of wind and the clucking from the chicken stopped.

She turned around and she was greeted by an unfamiliar tom with icy blue eyes.

His paws were covered with blood from the chicken he just killed. The tom stared at Echospring, unmoving.

The expression in the tom's eyes slowly changed. He curled his lip in a snarl, taking a step closer to the SunClan medicine cat.

Echospring widened her eyes and took a step back. The tom leaped towards her with a menacing growl.

She dropped her herbs and ran. Being a SunClan cat, she was able to easily outrun the cat.

Echospring was so focused on getting away from the tom that she did not notice a small rock protruding out from the short grass.

She tripped and fell on the ground heavily. Part of her face was covered with dirt and her paw felt broken.

Echospring slowly got up, only to come face to face with the tom with icy blue eyes.

She tried to limp away but she fell down. The tom snarled and unsheathed his claws.

She barely rolled away in time, remembering the basic fighting techniques that was taught to her as a precaution.

Echospring got up and limped as fast as she could away from her attacker. She saw a hole and jumped into it to hide.

The hole was dark and damp. Echospring's heart was pounding heavily as she silently hoped that the mysterious cat gave up and left her alone.

The scent of stale fox scent was getting to her nose. She sneezed and the sound echoed around the hole.

The SunClan medicine cat stiffened, hoping that the fox would not return to its hole.

She waited for several heartbeats anxiously, expecting the tom to leap into the hole and shred her to pieces.

Echospring was beginning to feel uncomfortable in the hole. She gave up and slowly climbed out of it.

There was no sight of the tom. She was relieved but she caught a fresh scent of a fox - or a badger, she wasn't sure as her nose feels blocked.

I should really get back to camp, Echospring thought, breaking into a run.

As she ran, a russet shape caught up with her and pounced. It was a fox. The medicine cat struggled to escape as the fox snapped its jaws threateningly.

Already tired from the run, Echospring could not defend herself from the merciless fox. It swiped at her swiftly with its paw and she blacked out.
