Hey, Everyone! BriBaker here 😊 I'm excited to answer some of the most asked questions about The Protector Series! I also have a special giveaway going on. Check it out below!

How did Jay make it out alive in the first book?

When I finish the series, I plan on editing all the books. This would be my first scene I'd add some extra background information to. But to answer this question, Jay had already met the woman before. She'd spent some time with Jay's father in their land and he'd been a part of her trances before. Jay knew something was off and he played her game and made it seem that he was under her spell, but he just wanted to gain her trust until she slipped and left the door unlocked. I'd probably add a chapter in this book from Jay's POV to explain this part if I ever edited.

How many books are you planning to write in the series?

5 (Four full books and one story between the book I'm writing now and the final book)

Will Queles have a book?

There is actually going to be a small book between the Fallen Protector and the final book – it's going to be the back story of Queles and the original protector.

Is Drea alive?

*evil author laughter*

Do you believe in happy endings?

I do to a point. The ending I have planned for the series ties up all loose ends and to me that's a happy ending lol.

What happened to Lena's dad?

In the time point of book 2/book 3, all of the older protectors from the prologue of the first book are now dead. After I finish the series and edit, I'm going to make a short book detailing what happened to everyone shortly after book 1. But mainly, Andreas and Lena had a talk after everything went down where he offered his love and support, but ultimately stayed to look after his people.

The ending to the first book felt rushed. Could you make the tournament longer?

I plan to when I edit. As a writer, I have such a hard time with the beginnings and endings of books ha which is why I'm already writing the ending to the last book now. I don't want it to feel rushed. But I want the tournament scene to be longer with more court/political drama/more epic fight scenes. I'll probably add more days/rounds to tournament scene and more snippets with Dorn and Marnie.

Why was Jay/Lena so unaffected right after Kaius died?

I wanted to portray that Jay has a difficult time expressing emotions, but that ultimately, internally, he feels everything rather intensely (why the burial scene was important later on). I'd probably go back and make Lena's reaction different, maybe question him more, but I think in this part of the book, Lena's feelings for Jay aren't that strong so Kaius' passing was just another person dying. Harsh, I know! I kind of wanted to portray that Lena is willing to sacrifice anyone on her journey to save the people she loves/Anwar. That's just who her character is. I'd probably add more internal dialogue with more pressure on Jay's character to express what he's feeling. Lol it's all about the rewrites!

Do people know about the God's children? They seem like pretty important people but no one ever mentions them in the beginning.

Yes and no. There were epic battles in the beginning between the original protectors and the Gods' children. After their defeat, the God's children decided to go into hiding/not be as noticed or cause issues or else they'd be killed by the masses again. The only time they really come out of hiding is to participate in the tournament. They're more like bed time stories passed down to children – so people know they exist but no one has ever really interacted with one and lived to tell the tale.

How was Drea able to kill Amis? It was mentioned in the first book that protectors can't be killed.

As far as anyone knew, protectors couldn't be killed. That's what they all believed and what they told each other. Drea was the first one able to kill another protector, so she's basically changing all the rules that they thought they knew. Lol "the truth is the truth until it isn't the truth anymore."
